This weekend promises to be an exciting one for horse racing fans as several prestigious races take center stage at various tracks across the US including Saratoga and Del Mar.
From turf to dirt, from graded stakes to prestigious invitational races, these events will showcase top-tier thoroughbreds battling it out for fame, and fortune. In two of the races the stakes are even higher as a part of the “Win and You’re In” series for the illustrious Breeders’ Cup. Let’s take a closer look at the big races scheduled for this weekend.
Weekend Stakes Preview
Thursday
1. Glens Falls (G2T)

This race is part of the hurdles race meet at Saratoga and is an exhilarating showcase of skill and athleticism. With its rich history and tradition, the racecourse hosts some of the finest steeplechase events in the country. In these races horses will run much further than their flat racing counterparts and add in the challenge of clearing hurdles throughout the race.
- #5 BARBADOS (3-1) is the top selection, boasting races good enough to beat this group. Recently, this horse has shown remarkable consistency and seems ready to deliver a strong performance.
- #1 AWAKENED (7-2) might be best suited for underneath positions on most tickets, but don’t underestimate its potential to become a dangerous threat on the front end.
- #7 MCTIGUE (8-1) appears to be running for minor placings in this contest. The combination of Murphy and Foley demands respect for this entry.
- #2 MERRY MAKER (6-1) also seems to be targeting minor placings in this race.

- #2 NOBILIS (7-2) claims the top pick, having demonstrated the ability to handle these conditions in previous starts.
- #5 FAST BUCK FREDDY (7-2) is expected to improve from its first start and should be competitive in this field. With strong speed figures and good form, it enters the race as a serious contender.
- #7 FLYING IN STYLE (3-1) should also improve from its first start and could pose a significant threat in this race. Watch out for this horse potentially getting loose on the front end.
- #1 CHALKY CAT (6-1) has solid early pace figures and may capitalize on the lack of front-running speed in the race, making it an appealing choice.

- #6 LYRICAL POET (3-1) is also a strong contender, not likely to have trouble with the 5 1/2 furlong distance. This entry stands out as one of the classiest in the field.

- #3 MO TOWN MADISON (8-1) isn’t without hope and seems to fit well enough in this field.
