Free Consensus NBA Picks for Every Game
The suggestions on this NBA Picks page are based on the market consensus–the most common pick–from free picks providers across the sports betting industry such as CBS Sports, Sports Betting Dime, Pickswise and more free NBA picks sources.
Those market consensus picks pair with the best available betting lines from our recommended sportsbooks, giving you a best point spread, total (over/under), and moneyline bets for every NBA game throughout the season.
NBA Consensus Pick Examples
In these examples, the Boston Celtics are playing the Los Angeles Lakers, which is one of the top historical rivalries in sports.
Three out of five sources Betting News monitors are picking the Celtics to cover the spread and the best price available for that pick is -2.5 (-110) at Bovada, which we will call Sportsbook A.
Four out of five sources provided by Betting News are picking the total to go over, and the best line available for that pick is over 225.5 (-110) at BetUS, which we will call Sportsbook B.
Four out of five sources provided by Betting News are picking the Celtics to win the game, and the best line available for that pick is -130 at MyBookie, which we will call Sportsbook C.
Our NBA game articles often refer to these picks, with our writers either siding with the pick or going against it based on individual analysis.
As a sports bettor, you can then use that information to help you determine which games you want to bet on and where you want to place those bets.
Betting News Best Bets on our NBA Picks page are subject to change based on how we calculate market consensus. Best Bets are also not financial advice. Please gamble responsibly.
How Is the Market Consensus Calculated?
Betting News uses predicted scores advertised by free picks providers to determine the market consensus.
Let’s expand on the above example:
- Source 1 is predicting the Celtics to beat the Lakers 115-114
- Source 2 is predicting the Celtics to beat the Lakers 114-111
- Source 3 is predicting the Lakers to beat the Celtics 115-113
- Source 4 is predicting the Celtics to beat the Lakers 117-110
- Source 5 is predicting the Celtics to beat the Lakers 120-112
The consensus lines for that game are:
- Point Spread: Celtics -2.5/Lakers +2.5
- Total: OVER 225.5/UNDER 225.5
- Moneyline: Celtics -130/Lakers +110
Based on those predictions and consensus lines, we would list Celtics -2.5 (-110) at Sportsbook A (they’re offering the best price at the consensus line) as the best spread bet. Three out of five sources have a predicted score that would see Boston cover the spread.
However, if the consensus point spread were to move to Celtics -3.5, our suggested pick would change. Why would that be? Only two out of five sources would be predicting that the Celtics would cover the spread. Therefore, Lakers +3.5 would be the best bet.
If Lakers +3.5 (-110) at BetUS/Sportsbook B is the best line available for that consensus pick, we would then list it as our recommendation.
The same applies to over/under betting, as well as moneyline betting.
For the over/under, we would list over 225.5 (-110) at BetUS/Sportsbook B as the bet total bet. Four out of five sources have a predicted score that would see the over hit.
And for the moneyline, we would list Celtics -130 at MyBookie/Sportsbook C, as four out of five sources are predicting the Cowboys to win the game.
