Let’s hit the Hardwood!
Welcome to the Betting News NBA picks page. On this page, you can find free NBA picks for every game on the National Basketball Association schedule from the opening day of the regular season to the last game of the NBA Finals. We have NBA point spread picks, NBA moneyline picks, and NBA total picks, along with NBA score predictions and important betting trends and stats for each game.
The NBA basketball picks that you will find on this page come from trusted sports betting industry sources. We aggregate those picks then match them up with corresponding NBA game odds to determine the recommended point spread, moneyline, and total pick for each clash on the court.
The NBA season begins in late October and lasts until June. In terms of games played, it is even with the NHL as the second-longest season among the major North American sports leagues. Only the MLB season, in which teams could play over 180 games between the regular season and playoffs, is longer.
With several games on the NBA schedule most days throughout the season, including many days with ten or more games, there is a lot of money to be made in betting on NBA games throughout the season.
So, if betting on the best basketball teams and players on the planet is something you like or want to begin doing, our NBA picks page can be a very handy resource for you. Use this page and our other NBA content as part of your research for wagering on games from Philadelphia to Portland and the other 28 North American cities that are home to NBA franchises.
NBA Season Structure
- October to April: Regular season
- November-December: NBA Cup
- February: NBA All-Star Weekend
- April: Play-in tournament
- April-June: NBA playoffs and NBA Finals
In the NBA season, each team plays 82 games in the regular season. Following the regular season, the NBA play-in tournament takes place. In the NBA play-in tournament, the teams ranked seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth in the Eastern and Western Conference standings battle to determine the #7 and #8 seeds in each conference. The top eight seeds in each conference take part in the playoffs, which consists of four best-of-seven rounds. If a team plays the maximum number of games in each round, they could play 28 games in the playoffs.
Also, in the 2023-24 season, the NBA began the NBA Cup, an in-season tournament. All games except for the championship game count as regular season games, which means that a team could play as many as 113 games if they play in the championship game of the NBA Cup, play in the play-in tournament, and reach the NBA Finals.
Types of Picks for Tonight’s NBA Games
Point Spread Picks
Betting on point spreads is a popular way to bet on the NBA, NFL, college football, and college basketball. On this page, you can find NBA point spread picks for all of tonight’s games.
How does point NBA point spread betting work? If the point spread favorite wins by a certain number of points, they cover the spread. On the other hand, if the underdog either wins outright or loses by an amount that is less than the spread, they cover the spread.
Say, for example, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets are hosting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight at home. In this example, the Nuggets are favored by 5.5 points. What does that mean?
- If the Nuggets win by six or more points, any spread bets on the Nuggets win.
- If the Thunder win outright or lose by five or fewer points, any spread bets on the Thunder win.
So, how do these NBA point spread picks work?
In this example, over 70% of our NBA picks sources favor the Nuggets to cover the 5.5-point spread. The best spread odds can be found at BetOnline, where Nuggets -5.5 is available for odds of -108. Therefore, Nuggets -5.5 (-108 at BetOnline) will be listed as the recommended point spread pick for tonight’s matchup in the Mile High City.
Moneyline Picks
In addition to point spread picks, we have moneyline picks for all of tonight’s NBA games.
How does NBA moneyline betting work? While point spread bets are dependent on a specific outcome, the outcome of moneyline picks is determined only by who wins and who loses.
What does that mean?
- Using the Thunder-Nuggets example, if the Nuggets defeat the Thunder by any margin, any moneyline bets on the Nuggets win.
- If the Thunder defeat the Nuggets by any margin, any moneyline bets on the Thunder win.
So, how do these NBA moneyline picks work?
In this example, moneyline odds line up well with point spread odds, and the Nuggets are favored to win outright. The best Nuggets moneyline odds can be found at Bovada, where Denver is a -210 favorite to win. Therefore, Nuggets -210 at Bovada will be listed as the recommended moneyline pick for this matchup.
Total (Over/Under) Picks
Last but certainly not least, you can also find NBA total picks, also known as over/under picks, on this page.
How does NBA total betting work? Whereas the outcome of point spread and moneyline picks relies on the outcome of the game, the outcome of total picks, also known as over/under picks, relies on the number of points scored no matter who wins the game.
For example, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and the Milwaukee Bucks are meeting Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers tonigh at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. It is a matchup between two of the highest-scoring teams in the NBA. As a result, the total is set at 238.5. What does that mean?
- If the Pacers and Bucks combine for 239 or more points, any bets on the over win (e.g., if Milwaukee defeats Indiana 125-116, over 238.5 bets win).
- If the Pacers and Bucks combine for 238 or fewer points, any bets on the under win (e.g., if Milwaukee defeats Indiana 124-113, under 238.5 bets win).
So, how do these NBA total picks work?
In this example, each of our listed NBA picks sources favors the over. The best over odds can be found at BetOnline, where over 238.5 is available at odds of -105. That means that over 238.5 (-105 at BetOnline) will be listed as the recommended total pick for the matchup in Milwaukee.
Other Types of NBA Picks
Point spread, moneyline, and total picks are what you will find on this page. But there are other types of NBA picks that you will find in our other NBA content.
NBA Player Prop Picks
Betting on NBA player props is an extremely popular way to bet on the NBA.
Throughout the season, our NBA content team provides NBA predictions and best bets daily, and many of those best bets are NBA player prop picks.
Some of our NBA player prop best bets include points props, rebound props, assist props, three-pointer props, and combination props, blocked shot props, which can consist of points + rebounds + assists, points + rebounds, points + assists, or rebounds + assists.
NBA Team & Game Prop Picks
Player props aren’t the only kind of NBA props available at sports betting sites like BetOnline.
Some types of NBA team and game props you can find are margin of victory props, race to [insert number] points props, and odd or even total props.
When it comes to NBA prop picks provided by our content team, you will most often see player prop picks given how popular and lucrative the NBA player props market is. However, you will see NBA team and game props as well, as there is a lot of good value on the board in those markets every night.
NBA Futures Picks
Betting on NBA games throughout the season, whether you are making NBA spread picks, NBA player prop picks, or NBA parlay picks, is the most popular way to bet on NBA odds.
But NBA futures odds are available year-round, even when the previous season is in the rearview mirror and the new one is weeks or months away.
NBA championship odds and NBA awards odds (NBA MVP, NBA Rookie of the Year, NBA Most Improved Player, NBA Finals MVP) are the most notable kinds of NBA futures odds, but these days you can bet on a lot of other futures options. Some of those include NBA Draft odds, NBA free agency odds, NBA hot seat odds, and NBA trade odds.
Our content team stays on top of NBA futures odds, and whether it’s January or June, we have you covered with insight on basketball futures and how they may be affected by the latest headlines and storylines.
For example, when the Los Angeles Lakers were searching for a new head coach after firing Darvin Ham, we broke down the Lakers coaching search, which ultimately ended with the hiring of former NBA player and ESPN analyst J.J. Redick.
NBA Parlay Picks
If you want to bet on several NBA games or betting lines at one time, parlays are a great way to do so.
If you are confident in your picks for tonight’s NBA games, you can put them all together in a parlay. Or if you are interested in a few NBA picks but don’t want to bet on all of them, a parlay is a way to get in on the action without spreading yourself and your bankroll too thin.
All NBA picks here are individual picks, but you can put together multiple picks that you find here to make an NBA parlay.
Also, you can often find NBA parlay picks among the NBA predictions and betting analysis provided by our content team, whether on the site, our Betting News Twitch streams, or one of the Betting News social media channels. That includes same-game parlays, also known as SGPs. In recent years, SGPs, which involve betting on multiple lines from the same game, have become a very popular way to bet on sports, including basketball.
Why Are NBA Picks Useful?
If you like to bet on the NBA on the NBA or would like to learn about betting on the NBA, one of the most important pieces of advice you might receive is to do your research.
Do you need to know everything about every facet of the NBA? That certainly can’t hurt, but it isn’t necessary.
However, knowing NBA teams, NBA players, and types of NBA bets, keeping up with relevant NBA betting trends and stats, and having trustworthy information that supports and supplements that research can significantly aid your chances of success, whether you are betting on sports online or in person at a casino.
Whether it is reliable NBA computer picks from sources with a track record of success or NBA expert picks that come with quality, informative analysis, good information from good sources can help you decide if you want to lock in or pass on a particular pick.
The NBA consensus picks found here are all from such sources. Will they be right 100% of the time? They won’t be.
Will you side with them 100% of the time? You may regularly choose the other side, even when percentages don’t favor that side.
But the intent for these picks is for them to be just one part of your NBA betting research, whether you are looking to bet on NBA point spread picks, NBA moneyline picks, or NBA total picks.
For example, the Oklahoma City Thunder are meeting the Dallas Mavericks tonight. You like the under for the game, and 100% of our NBA picks sources also favor the under. Because so many reputable sources are on the same side as you are, you may feel even better about placing your bet.
Should You Buy NBA Picks?
All picks on this page are free NBA picks. Betting News is just one of many sources where you can find NBA picks, predictions, and betting analysis for free.
However, there are many sports handicappers and handicapping services that offer NBA picks, betting analysis, and betting stats for a price.
Are NBA premium picks worth it?
We are not here to dissuade you from paying for sports betting picks. In fact, there are several places we recommend if you are looking for where to buy premium sports picks.
Premium sports picks can be a great way to supplement your research. Many sports handicappers and services offer valuable additional analysis or information that makes the investment worthwhile.
That said, we suggest treading carefully with any handicapper or handicapping service that mentions “100% guaranteed winner” or other similar phrases or buzzwords.
No human is going to win 100% of the time. Hot streaks will happen, but cold streaks will as well. Will any computer win 100% of the time? No. Will any betting system or strategy going to win 100% of the time? No.
If someone says that a pick is a 100% guaranteed winner, they are not being truthful. Does that mean that you should absolutely avoid them? No, but exercise extreme caution.
Also, weigh whether the cost of the pick(s) is worth it relative to your bankroll, potential betting stake, and potential winnings.
For example, if you typically bet $50 on NBA games, think long and hard before paying $40 for a pick for tonight’s Celtics-76ers game.
Where to Bet on NBA Picks
If you are on our NBA picks page, that likely means you are interested in betting on the NBA.
The NBA is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, and it makes up one of the “Big Four” of North American professional sports leagues, along with Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), and the National Hockey League (NHL).
Even when no games are taking place and the hectic free agency period and the NBA Draft are both in the books, you can still bet on NBA odds at the top online sportsbooks.
Which sports betting sites you use for betting on the NBA may depend on the markets you are looking for. It may also depend on what you are looking for in a sportsbook.
Do you like to bet on NBA props? If so, you might pick a book that has a wide variety of NBA prop odds. Other bettors pick a book based on bonuses, promos, or rewards programs
We highly recommend shopping around to find the sportsbook(s) that work for you. Many bettors choose to have multiple options (or “outs,” in sports betting language).
That said, if you want to keep it simple and stick to one sportsbook, BetOnline is an excellent option. BetOnline is easy to navigate whether you are on a computer or a mobile device, has great welcome and reload bonuses and a rewards program, and they frequently run contests that offer lucrative prizes.
When it comes to NBA betting specifically, BetOnline has you covered in every area, whether you like to bet on NBA point spreads, NBA player props, NBA same-game parlays, or NBA futures odds.
