Light & Wonder Acquires Grover Charitable Gaming

Light & Wonder, a well-known cross-platform, land-based and online casino games provider, has recently inked a deal with Grover Gaming where the former will acquire the assets of Grover Charitable Gaming, including its 10,000 machines operating at multiple facilities in five states in the USA.
According to a press release, Light & Wonder’s acquisition of Grover Charitable Gaming could cost as much as $1.05 billion, and the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.
Moreover, part of the sale includes $850 million cash, payable upon closing of the transaction and subject to customary purchase price adjustments, as well as contingent cash consideration of up to $200 million, subject to the achievement of certain financial targets through 2028.
Light & Wonder President and CEO Matt Wilson stressed the importance of acquiring Grover Gaming as part of their goal of becoming one of the cross-platform providers of charitable as well as real money online casino options across North America,
“Grover Gaming is a leading player in charitable gaming, a category that has experienced significant growth in recent years… This transaction complements our position as the leading cross-platform global games company by adding another compelling regulated adjacency to our profile,” Wilson added.
Garret Blackwelder, Grover Gaming’s sole proprietor, manages the enterprise that includes more than 10,000 licensed electronic pull-tab terminals spread over five states such as Kentucky, Ohio, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Virginia.
Blackwelder thanked the Grover Gaming workforce, as well as the community that utilized their charitable gaming offers over the past two decades. He also hailed Light & Wonder as a key partner that share the same goals, specifically towards innovation and customer service,

Light & Wonder Continues its Expansion
The acquisition of Grover Charitable Gaming is the next successful step Light & Wonder has taken with its goal for expanding their operations across the North American iGaming market and beyond to become one of the best online casinos.
Their recent partnerships with Red Desert Games as well as their deal with Playson has given them ample footholds within the US and Canadian online casino market. Apart from inter-company team-ups, Light & Wonder has also doubled down on bolstering their front office.
They began January 2025 with the appointment of Simon Johnson as CEO of their iGaming Division. Following this, they also promoted Nathan Drane as their Chief Product Officer.
