New Jersey online casinos managed to rake up record revenue over traditional brick-and-mortar casinos. According to a report released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, real money online casino platforms produced $221.6 million in earnings last month. This number was a 20.9% increase from January 2024’s numbers which summed up to $183.3 million.
Conversely, the revenue generated by traditional casinos for January was only $210.1 million. This was a given, though, as Atlantic City casinos are currently in the heart of the offseason.
Meanwhile, New Jersey online casinos had a strong 2024 where online casino operators posted five consecutive month-over-month increases. These numbers culminated in December, when they generated a combined $228.0 million.
Offseason Not a Concern for New Jersey Online Casinos
Online casinos in New Jersey haven’t broken the record for 2025 so far – even with a slower start in January, the market is off to a faster start than it was at this point last year. This can be attributed to January as a slow month for both conventional and online casinos within Atlantic City.
Many consider New Jersey as one of the premier locations that have the best online casinos operating in the U.S. market. Studies projected that New Jersey online casinos could finish ahead the retail vertical in Atlantic City at least once before the summer of 2025. This was the case, as for the second time ever, online gambling topped Atlantic City casinos.
Experts were keen to note that the performance of online casinos during January, widely considered to be a down month for the industry, has continued to grow. In terms of online operators, FanDuel and DraftKings reported the highest iGaming revenue in New Jersey in January, making $49.7m and $44.1m respectively.
Back in 2024, FanDuel and DraftKings duked it out against one another, with DraftKings coming out on top with $515 million, while FanDuel finished with $506.6 million.
That said, the most significant online revenue growth was reported by Jackpocket, up 507.7%. However, with growth from $0.2m to $1.3m, this figure is less significant. Meanwhile, other operators experienced sizable growth such as Hard Rock Bet at 58.7%, making $12.5m, Golden Nugget at 77%, making $10.5m and Caesars Palace, up 43.5% to $14.8m.
