Let me start by saying I am a Yankees fan, and it pains me to type this, but the Red Sox at +260 is a great price for a team that went all out in the offseason. Acquiring Garrett Crotchet, Walker Buehler, and Alex Bregman was arguably the perfect offseason for Boston. This is a team that ranked 23rd in runs allowed while finishing ninth in runs per game last year. Adding depth to the rotation was crucial.
The Red Sox should cruise past 85 wins this season and take home the AL East in 2025.
Stay Away
Stop looking at Baltimore. STOP!
They slept through the offseason, making no moves to improve their starting rotation after Corbin Burnes left for Arizona. Their most notable addition was Tyler O’Neill, who will replace Anthony Santander after his move to Toronto. Outside of that, they may have one of the most unimpressive rotations in baseball, despite having an electrifying offense. A good offense can only take you so far—you need a strong rotation. Zach Eflin, Charlie Morton, Dean Kremer, and Tomoyuki Sugano are not taking you to the promised land. Sure, they will buy at the break, but will it be enough? Doubtful.
Yankees
My thoughts are minimal—the team should still be good. They will win plenty of games, but without Gerrit Cole and depth in the starting rotation, they are the same team as last year.
“BUT COLBY, THEY WENT TO THE WORLD SERIES!?!”
They played the Guardians and the Royals to get there—teams that benefited from facing the Chicago White Sox ten-plus times a year. Sure, they added Max Fried, but I do not think it will be enough for this team in the long run.
Bet: Red Sox to win Al East (+260)
