Brewers vs Braves Predictions & MLB Picks Today (8/8)
The Brewers took a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Braves following yesterday’s convincing 8-5 victory. Atlanta got off to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, however, it was all the visitors beyond that as five Milwaukee batters tallied multiple hits — including Blake Perkins, who led the charge with three hits and as many RBIs.
The Braves simply haven’t been able to match the Brewers’ offense in this series, having been outscored 18-5 through two games. The loss also marked Atlanta’s fourth in a row in a stretch where Brian Snitker’s club owns a putrid minus-5.3 average run margin.
It also doesn’t help that the Braves have fallen to 2-8 SU across their last 10 home games, proving that playing at Truist Park isn’t providing much of an advantage. Conversely, the Brewers are 8-3 SU in their last 11 road games on top of winning 12 of their last 16 August outings.
The Brewers have been chugging along on the road in recent weeks.
Brewers RHP Frankie Montas is drawing the start today after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds ahead of the MLB trade deadline. The 6-foot-2 righty made his Milwaukee debut against the Washington Nationals last Friday, striking out five batters while allowing three runs on nine hits across five innings in an 8-3 victory.
Having said that, Montas has played to an abysmal 8.14 ERA in his last four starts, which includes allowing opponents to tally a .355/.402/.559 slash line.
As for the Braves, RHP Charlie Morton is making his 21st start of the 2024 MLB season. Although the veteran right-hander’s performances have been up and down throughout the year, his recent home play has been tremendous. In his last six starts at Truist Park, Morton owns a 1.01 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings.
Does Braves RHP Charlie Morton have another strong performance in store for the Truist Park faithful?
Even though the Brewers opened the series with back-to-back wins, I’m taking the Braves today. Atlanta is a better team than its recent results show and I can see the club getting back on track against Montas, who’s been terrible on the mound lately. The Brewers won’t go down without a fight, as expected, but that shouldn’t stop the Braves from giving the home fans something to cheer about.
If you like seeing a lot of offense, you’ll want to take the Over on the 9-run total, too. The Over is a promising 4-1 in the Brewers’ last five road games (10.2 runs per game) and 5-1 in the Braves’ last six encounters with an NL Central team (10.2 runs per game).
Considering how the last eight Brewers-Braves tilts averaged a combined 11.9 runs per game, we shouldn’t be shocked if there are a ton of fireworks on Thursday afternoon.

Best Brewers vs Braves MLB Player Prop (8/8)
If you’re looking to add a Brewers vs. Braves player prop to your MLB betting slip, you should consider taking Frankie Montas o5.5 total hits allowed (-120).
As mentioned earlier, Montas has been struggling to limit the opposition’s offense. The Dominican hurler is allowing an average of 8.3 hits in his last four starts, finishing with the Over in each of those contests. The Over is also 3-0 in his last three road starts, which includes when he surrendered 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings in a 9-4 win over the Braves on July 24.
With the Braves starving to get back into the win column, it could be an ugly day for Montas, who isn’t showing any signs of breaking out of his slump.
