Shohei Ohtani could become the only person in MLB history to hit 50 HR and 50 SB.
Despite practically being neighbours, the Angels and Dodgers don’t really play a lot of games against each other. They played a 2-game series at Dodger Stadium back in June, splitting both games.
Tonight’s game marks the first time Shohei Ohtani will be returning to Angel Stadium and just the third time he’s facing his former team. In his prior two games against the Angels, he recorded a 0.500 batting average, recorded 9 total bases and hit two absolute BOMBS.
The Dodgers have won 5 of their last 6 games, further securing their hold on the NL West. They shit 5 games ahead of the Padres and 6 games in front of the Diamondbacks. The Angels are once again going to miss the post-season and once again look to the off-season.

Mookie’s matched up with Reid Detmers tonight, someone he’s struggled against in his career. He’s got just 1 hit in 7 at-bats, recording a 0.143 batting average and 4 strikeouts. Detmers is going through what could possibly be his worst season as a full time starter.

Last season Ohtani his 22 dingers at Angel Stadium, recording a 0.645 SLG and 41 RBI. Tonight he returns to Anaheim with a team bound for the post-season, a place Ohtani’s never been before.
This season he’s recorded 46 stolen bases and became one of the few players all time to join the 40/40 club (40 HR/40 SB). Ohtani could very well become the only player to ever record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.
With just 24 games left for the Dodgers, he doesn’t have much time to do it. Tonight, against the Angels is the perfect time to add to his tally.
