Giants vs Braves Predictions & MLB Picks Today (7/4)
With the 2024 MLB season now in its second half, a victory tonight is crucial for both sides. After all, the Braves currently occupy the National League’s top wild-card spot and could use a victory to solidify their status while the Giants are three games back of the St. Louis Cardinals for the final NL playoff spot.
The Giants opened this series with a win, but it’s beginning to look like that was a fluke. After tasting defeat yesterday, they are now just 1-6 SU in its last seven road games. San Francisco was outscored by an average of 1.7 runs per game during that stretch with four of those losses coming by a multi-run margin.
Interestingly enough, the Giants’ 40.5% winning percentage on the road ranks seventh-worst in the Majors this season. Conversely, the Braves’ 64.3% success rate at home is the fifth-best.
The Braves have been home warriors whereas the Giants have struggled on the road this season.
After only recording four hits on Wednesday, the Giants could struggle to get things going against Braves RHP Charlie Morton. The two-time MLB All-Star has pitched to a 3.89 ERA through 15 starts and is coming off a strong showing where he racked up seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 scoreless innings in Friday’s 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Furthermore, Morton is 1-0 with a 0.83 ERA in his last three home starts against San Francisco, averaging 9.1 Ks per nine innings along the way.
Meanwhile, the Giants will hope for more consistency from RHP Logan Webb. Although this season’s innings leader has been among the MLB’s better pitchers, he’s failed to pick up a win in each of his last three starts. It isn’t his fault, though, as he has a 3.60 ERA during that span whereas the Giants only scored 10 total runs (3.3 per game) in support.
Let’s also not forget that Webb has allowed nine earned runs and two homers on 15 hits in his last two starts against the Braves, resulting in a 7.15 ERA.
Will Giants RHP Logan Webb finally overcome the Braves?
So, who’s winning tonight? I’m going with the Braves at home. The Giants have been nothing short of putrid on the road lately and things could get worse if Webb continues to struggle against Atlanta. With that being said, backing the Braves on the moneyline is the way to go after they essentially silenced the Giants’ bats last night.

Best Giants vs Braves MLB Player Prop (7/4)
If you’re hungry for a Giants vs. Braves player prop, you’ll want to back Charlie Morton u2.5 earned runs (-139).
Although his play has fluctuated throughout the year, Morton’s recent home performances have been top-notch. The 40-year-old righty has pitched to a 3.15 ERA in his last seven appearances at Truist Park, finishing with the Under on this prop five times. That includes his allowing just one run across 18 1/3 innings in his last three home appearances.
The Over is also 7-2 in Morton’s last nine games against the Giants. In other words, there’s a good chance that the ex-2002 third-rounder has another sound day on the mound.
