See Picks & Statistics For The GameTwo teams face off at Citi Field today for game 2 of a 3 game series. The Mets are hosting the Orioles and already got the best of them in game 1, winning 4-3 last night. Baltimore is battling with the other team from New York in the AL East and are currently 0.5 game behind them in the standings. This puts them 2.5 games ahead of the Twins and Royals for the Top Wild Card spot, but the O’s certainly have their hearts set on an AL East Title.
As for the Mets, they are 8.5 games behind the Phillies, but just a game and a half out of second place in the NL East. The Mets are battling the Braves who are currently holding the final Wild Card spot in the National League, but Atlanta has their work cut out for them while facing the Phillies this week. New York knows they need to string some wins together to make the playoffs, and tonight at home would be the perfect time to gain some ground.
Jose Quintana starts for New York and the lefty has much improved splits at home this season. However, he is coming off some rough outings. As for the Orioles, Dean Kremer gets the nod, and although his away splits improve, he’s also had a rough few starts. Can one of these starters lead their teams to victory tonight? Or will we rely on the bats to win this game?

Will Quintana Bounce Back at Home?
Jose Quintana watches his ERA drop half a run to 3.72 at home this season, but things have been bad recently. In his L3 starts, Quintana is 0-2 with a 6.89 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP, giving up 3+ runs in all 3 starts. At home he’s allowed 4+ runs in 2 of his L3 at Citi Field, and Baltimore is keen on smacking lefties around.
The Orioles his .259 against lefties and they’ve hit .263 since the All Star Break. Despite having Kremer on the mound, I do see the Orioles being able to produce some runs in this matchup. While they don’t have any elite hitters today, according to batters-box.com (Do NOT Forget the Hyphen), they have 4 guys with a great or above average rating. This team needs to turn things around to keep up with the Yankees, and they will certainly need to give their pitcher run support.
Dean Kremer is coming off a win but lost 4 straight starts before then. He is actually 1-5 in his last 7 outings, giving up 21 runs for a 5.38 ERA since July 9th. His WHIP is also inflated up to 1.59 over the past month. Point is, he hasn’t been great. Kremer has allowed 3+ earned runs in his L3 road starts, and I could see the Mets bats being able to score some runs off of him. New York has won 4 of their L6 games, allowing just 16 runs over the course of those games. However, their splits do not help their cause.
The Mets his .250 as a team, but just .246 against righties, and .236 at home. They are hitting .252 in August, but I think it will take multiple bunches of runs to beat the Orioles tonight.
Baltimore Orioles vs New York Mets Best Bets
Orioles vs Mets Prediction: Orioles Win
Best Bet: Orioles TT Over 3.5 (-145) BetOnline
This isn’t pretty, and we’re paying some juice for this line, but I think the Orioles can manage 4 runs today. They would much rather face a lefty, and with Quintana struggling recently, this is the perfect time for the bats to come alive. Baltimore knows the Yankees have a very tough series against the Guardians, so gaining some ground in this series would be more than ideal, especially with the Orioles facing the Astros and Dodgers following this Mets series.
Ultimately, I like the Orioles to come together and score some runs to support Kremer. I think this is a number they could clear off of Quintana, but their F5 TT Over 1.5 (-165) was even too juicy for me. Instead I’ll back them to score 4 over the course of all 9 innings. Hopefully we won’t have to wait that long to cash!
