The first four editions of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas produced four different winners. Will we see a first two-time winner today in the 2025 edition of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix (3:30 pm ET, FOX)?
This year’s race will be the first not contested on the full 3.4-mile, 20-turn Grand Prix layout of at COTA. Instead, drivers will vroom and zoom for 95—and possibly more—laps around the 2.4-mile, 20-turn National Course layout.
In yesterday’s Xfinity Series race, a future Cup Series star showed his mastery of the new layout by outpacing a current Cup Series star. Polesitter Connor Zilisch overcame a couple of issues during the race, retook the lead inside the final ten laps, and beat William Byron to the checkered flag by 1.6 seconds to win the Focused Health 250.
Today, the 18-year-old will be making his Cup Series debut in the #87 for Trackhouse Racing. And after qualifying 14th, he is expected to be a contender this afternoon.
If he can do a dazzling double, he would match teammate Shane van Gisbergen, who won his Cup Series debut two years ago in the Chicago street race.
SVG, now in his first full Cup Series season, is the favorite to win the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, according to the odds at BetOnline. He will start sixth, sitting on the third row with teammate Daniel Suarez and behind polesitter Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, and Carson Hocevar, who will have a lot of eyes on him after aggressive racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway overshadowed his career-best runner-up finish in last week’s Ambetter Health 400.

EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix Predictions and Picks
This is a new season and a new layout, but as with most road races, those who have shown an aptitude on these courses are the focus for today’s race picks and predictions.
That isn’t the case for every race, and today’s race, as is the case with many NASCAR races, will likely have a surprise or two in the top five and top ten.
But these are the best bets for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix with both value and probability in mind. Odds listed are from BetOnline and Bovada, which are two of the best sites to bet on NASCAR odds.
William Byron to finish in the top five (+190 at Bovada)
Byron won last year’s race at COTA from pole, and even though he will start 15th in today’s race, he should finish the race in a much more prominent position. In four races on the Grand Prix layout, he finished 11th, 12th, 5th, and 1st, and after a strong run on the new layout in yesterday’s Xfinity Series race, the Daytona 500 winner is in line for another good result today.
Connor Zilisch to finish in the top five (+215 at Bovada)
Last year, Zilisch won his Xfinity Series debut at Watkins Glen. He did that from pole, but do not discount his chances to repeat that feat in his Cup Series debut. At the very least, he should have a memorable day in what should be a strong showing overall for Trackhouse Racing. The kid clearly knows his way around road courses, and he will not be intimidated by the occasion and the names he will be going up against.
Group wins for A.J. Allmendinger (+185 at BetOnline to win Group 4 and +230 at Bovada to win Group C)
Allmendinger is one of the most accomplished road course racers in this field. All three of his Cup Series wins and 11 of his 18 Xfinity Series wins coming on road courses, including wins at COTA in 2022 and 2023. He will start 11th in the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, and the value here is outstanding given his prowess on road courses, no matter what car he’s in.
Shane van Gisbergen to win the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix
Obviously this is a bit of a move of a chalky move, but oh well. After finishing 33rd at Daytona and 23rd at Atlanta, SVG is back in his element this weekend, and it will be to his benefit and everyone’s else detriment.
