This week, NASCAR will take on Texas, with the Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series in action at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. First up is the Truck Series and tonight’s SpeedyCash.com 250 (8:30 pm ET, FS1).
Last week, Christian Eckes claimed his second win of the season, crossing the line first in the Long John Silver’s 200 at Martinsville.
Through six races this season, Eckes, who also won the Weather Guard Truck Race at Bristol last month, is the lone driver to win multiple times. The other wins belong to Nick Sanchez (Daytona), Rajah Carruth (Las Vegas), Corey Heim (Circuit of the Americas), and Kyle Busch (Atlanta), who will be racing in the SpeedyCash.com 250.
Will someone join Eckes on that list this week? He will be on the front row with polesitter Nick Sanchez tonight, with Stewart Friesen, Busch, Grant Enfinger, and Daniel Dye rounding out the front three rows.
As might be expected, Busch is the favorite to win the SpeedyCash.com 250, which he has won four times as a car owner but has yet to win as a driver.
Odds to Win the 2024 SpeedyCash.com 250
- Kyle Busch +150

SpeedyCash.com 250 Predictions & Picks
In last year’s SpeedyCash.com 250, Nick Sanchez dominated the race but came up empty-handed at the end. Sanchez started on pole last, led 168 of the first 171 laps, and took the white flag.
However, as he and Zane Smith were battling for the win, Sanchez crashed and collected Smith and Eckes, who had been in fourth. That enabled Carson Hocevar to claim his first Truck Series win and second-place finisher Chase Purdy to pick up his best Truck Series finish and the first top-five finish of his Truck Series career.
Can Sanchez get it done from the front this time? Two polesitters have won in the first six races this season, Carruth at Las Vegas and Eckes at Bristol.
SpeedyCash.com 250 Starting Lineup (Front Eight Rows)
- 1. Nick Sanchez
- 2. Christian Eckes
- 3. Stewart Friesen
- 4. Kyle Busch
- 5. Grant Enfinger
- 6. Daniel Dye
- 7. Layne Riggs
- 8. Bayley Currey
- 9. Taylor Gray
- 10. Rajah Carruth
- 11. Ty Majeski
- 12. Zane Smith
- 13. Jake Garcia
- 14. Corey Heim
- 15. Chase Purdy
- 16. Connor Jones
Since winning the season opener at Daytona, Sanchez has picked up two other top-five finishes. He came in fifth in the Fr8 208 at Atlanta and fourth last week at Martinsville.
Do last week’s results provide some insight as to who the best picks are for this week?
Perhaps. Twice this season, the driver to win finished sixth in the previous race, and twice more the driver to win finished eighth in the previous race. Corey Heim finished sixth at Bristol before winning at Circuit of the Americas, while Eckes finished sixth at Las Vegas before winning at Bristol. Carruth finished eighth at Atlanta before winning at Las Vegas, and Eckes finished eighth at COTA before winning at Martinsville.
At Martinsville, Taylor Gray finished sixth, and the Spire Motorsports #7 truck, driven by Xfinity Series regular Sammy Smith, finished eighth. This week, the Spire Motorsports #7 is being driven by Busch.
Gray, who is fifth in the points standings, has finished fourth, fourth, seventh, second, and sixth since opening the season with a 19th-place finish at Daytona. He’s starting ninth in the SpeedyCash.com 250, and at +1800, I love the value here on a guy who is knocking on the door.
Ultimately, he is my secondary pick for tonight’s race. The driver getting most of my attention tonight will be Busch. For all that he has done in his career, which includes five wins in the Vankor 350 (the Truck Series race that was held at Texas Motor Speedway from 1999 to 2020), he has yet to win this race as a driver. That will change tonight.
