See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Chicago Bulls hit the road tonight to take on the San Antonio Spurs in an intriguing cross-conference matchup. Both teams are dealing with key injuries, but the absence of Victor Wembanyama looms largest for the Spurs. Even so, this game sets up perfectly for one of my favorite betting strategies: backing a team to rally when their star player is out.

First NBA Write-Up: Fading My Hometown Bulls
We’re kicking off my first NBA write-up here at Betting News by fading my hometown Chicago Bulls. Fresh off a 26-point blowout win over the Nets, the Bulls hit the road tonight to face the San Antonio Spurs. The twist? The Spurs will be without their star big man, Victor Wembanyama, who’s sidelined with bilateral low back soreness.
This brings us to one of my favorite betting angles: the Injury Theory. What’s that, you ask? It’s when you lean into the bad news. Back the team missing their star player, banking on the idea that the rest of the squad rallies in their absence. It’s a morale boost play, and it’s coming into effect tonight.
The Bulls aren’t exactly healthy, either. They will be without Coby White, Lonzo Ball, and Patrick Williams. To top it off, Josh Giddey remains questionable. However, none of those players are as crucial to their team as Wembanyama is to the Spurs.
Despite the injuries, this is still a prime spot to fade Chicago. They’re coming off a massive win after losing two straight, while the Spurs are looking to bounce back from an 11-point loss to the Suns on Tuesday. San Antonio should be locked in and ready to take advantage of a Bulls team that’s been wildly inconsistent this season.
Let’s dig into the numbers:
- As underdogs, the Bulls are 7-12 straight up and 9-10 against the spread this season.
- San Antonio, on the other hand, thrives as the favorite, going 4-2 against the spread and 5-1 straight up (small sample size, but still).
We’re skipping the spread here and riding with the Spurs’ moneyline at -130. This is a great spot for San Antonio to rally and take down the Bulls. Pay the juice and let’s cash it!
