Knicks vs 76ers NBA Emirates Cup Predictions & Picks (11/12)
The Knicks and 76ers have both had their struggles when it comes to building momentum early in the NBA regular season.
The Knicks are only 4-5 and have lost three of their last four outings. They most recently fell 132-121 to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday in a game that saw New York allow the opposition to shoot 51.1% from the field and 45.7% from deep. That’s without mentioning how Tom Thibodeau’s team was outscored by 13 points in the fourth quarter, further highlighting their inability to complete a game.
Meanwhile, the 76ers improved to 2-7 on the year with a 107-105 overtime victory against the Charlotte Hornets two nights ago. Jared McCain scored a game-high 27 points off the bench while Guerschon Yabusele got in on the action with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Tonight’s matchup also marks the first clash of the year between these Atlantic Division rivals. It’s also the first time they’re colliding since they met in the opening round of the 2023-24 NBA playoffs, which ended with the Knicks advancing past the 76ers in six games.
The Knicks eliminated the 76ers in Round 1 of the 2024 NBA postseason. Will they pick up from where they left off?
The Knicks have the offensive edge in this matchup as they average 114.4 points (14th) while shooting 49.0% from the floor (4th) and 39.5% from deep (3rd). The 76ers, on the other hand, are averaging 107.0 PPG (T-27th) with a 43.5 FG% (27th) and 32.1 3P% (24th). That’s without mentioning how New York owns the third-best offensive efficiency wears Philadelphia sits 27th.
One reason why the 76ers’ offense has been lacking is because Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Joel Embiid have also missed varying amounts of time. Although Maxey is still on the shelf for the time being, George already ready returned to the lineup a few nights ago while Embiid is set to re-join the lineup on Tuesday now that his suspension is over.
Embiid, who’s yet to debut this season, averaged 34.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 39 games across an injury-plagued 2023-24 season. He now gets to take on the Knicks, who are allowing 50.2 points in the paint per game (17th) this season. Additionally, New York is collecting an NBA-low 48.4 rebounds per game.
Speaking of the Knicks, they’re dealing with a slew of injuries at the moment. Mikes McBride (knee), Cameron Payne (hamstring), and Kevin McCullar Jr. (knee) are all questionable while Precious Achiuwa (hamstring) and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) still aren’t ready to make their returns.
Can the 76ers take advantage of the Knicks’ injury situation tonight?
You could argue for either side to win this game, however, I’m going with the 76ers tonight. I expect a returning Embiid to give the 76ers a much-needed boost against a Knicks squad that has struggled to perform in the paint throughout the season. Let’s also not forget the fact that Philadelphia is 13-4 ATS in its last 17 games dating back to last season while New York is only 13-18 SU in its last 31 outings as the away underdog.
With that being said, I’m also taking the Over on the 215.5-point total. The Over is 13-5 in the Knicks’ last 18 games, which includes a 5-1 record on the road this season, as well as 10-3 in the 76ers’ last 13 Eastern Conference matchups.
If that isn’t convincing enough, the Over is also 4-2 in the last six Knicks-76ers matchups. Considering how the last five games between these teams at Wells Fargo Center averaged 217.4 PPG while finishing with more than tonight’s projected total three times, I expect a decent amount of offense in Philly.

Best Knicks vs 76ers NBA Player Prop (11/12)
I’m feeling a bit risky with my Knicks vs. 76ers player prop pick, so let’s go with Paul George to record 3+ threes made (+125).
It goes without saying that George isn’t having the best season from deep, averaging just 1.0 threes made on 16.0% shooting in his first four outings. Nevertheless, slumps can’t last forever and I wouldn’t be shocked if the nine-time NBA All-Star’s ended tonight.
After all, the Knicks struggled to defend the perimeter, allowing 13.7 threes made (20th) on 35.3% shooting (14th) per game. They look even worse on the road where they allow a 40.1 3p% — third-worst in the Association.
The Over is also 9-4 in George’s last 13 games against the Knicks — a span where he’s averaging 3.4 3PM with a 40.0% success rate. As long as his teammates continue feeding him the ball, PG13 is a threat to hit the Over again on Tuesday.
