Lakers vs Heat NBA Predictions & Picks (12/4)
The Lakers are hoping to begin a turnaround tonight after Monday’s 109-80 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves marked the former’s fifth loss in the last seven games. Unsurprisingly, offensive struggle plagued JJ Redick’s team yet again as Los Angeles only mustered up 80 points on .405/.194/.714 shooting splits.
Interestingly enough, the Lakers’ offensive woes are coinciding with LeBron James’ scoring slump. The 20-time NBA All-Star appears to be snakebitten by Father Time as he’s only averaging 18.9 points on .423/.205/.778 splits in the last seven games, meaning the team’s struggles will likely continue until James breaks out of his funk.
Meanwhile, the Heat will look to avoid a third straight loss this evening after falling 108-89 to the Boston Celtics two nights ago. Miami was without star player Jimmy Butler that night as he missed the contest with a knee injury and is now questionable to face the Lakers tonight.
Additionally, Josh Richardson (illness) and Kevin Love (back) are also questionable for the Heat while Nikola Jovic (ankle) has already been ruled out.
Can the Heat still win if Jimmy Butler (knee) doesn’t play?
Having said that, nearly the entire Lakers lineup is banged up ahead of tonight’s showdown, as seen below:
- Anthony Davis (foot) — Probable
- Jaxson Hayes (ankle) — Out
- Jalen Hood-Schifino (groin) — Questionable
- Bronny James (heel) — Out
- Austin Reaves (pelvis) — Questionable
- Jarred Vanderbilt (knee) — Out
- Christian Wood (ankle) — Out
Regardless of how many of those players end up playing, it’s hard to have much faith in the Lakers based on their recent results. It’s just hard to imagine Davis and 39-year-old James carrying Los Angeles to victory when Los Angeles is only averaging 99.2 points in its last five outings. No matter how you slice it, it’s difficult to find any positives during that run.
There’s also the fact that the Lakers are an abysmal 1-8 ATS in their last nine games on top of losing four consecutive previous trips to Miami. The Lakers haven’t defeated the Heat on the road since Dec. 13, 2019, losing each of their last four visits to Kaseya Center by an average of 6.8 PPG.
Do the Lakers have what it takes to win in Miami for the first time in nearly five years?
Although neither team has played well lately, I’m siding with the Heat on this one. They at least have the home-court advantage tonight, whereas the Lakers are struggling to succeed wherever they play. Los Angeles’ injury situation also puts it at a disadvantage tonight, as does its recent struggles in Miami.
Let’s keep things simple tonight with a Heat moneyline bet.

Best Lakers vs Heat NBA Player Prop (12/4)
Even though his offense has been lacking lately, I still like LeBron James o7.5 rebounds (-134) for the best Lakers vs. Heat player prop bet tonight.
James heads into tonight’s matchup averaging a respectable 8.0 rebounds this season. The four-time NBA MVP’s average has jumped up to 8.6 RPG across his last 15 outings, which saw him finish with the Over on this prop 12 times along the way (80.0%) — including when he tallied eight boards against the Timberwolves on Monday.
The Heat have been generous when it comes to giving up second chances this season, surrendering the seventh-most rebounds at home thus far. That’s good news for James, who averaged 9.7 rebounds in his 10 previous clashes with Miami as the Over went 8-2 during that stretch.
Best Lakers vs. Heat Player Prop: LeBron James o7.5 Rebounds (-134)
