Nuggets vs Timberwolves NBA Predictions & Picks (11/1)
After an 0-2 start to the season, the Nuggets are back on track following back-to-back wins. Nikola Jokic & Co. most recently scored a 144-139 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. Jokic led the way with another triple-double (29 points, 18 rebounds, 16 assists) while Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray tallied 24 points apiece.
As for the Timberwolves, they’re hoping to return to a win column after falling 120-114 to the Dallas Mavericks two nights ago. Even though Anthony Edwards racked up a game-high 37 points, it wasn’t enough to stop the Mavs as Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 59 points.
Nevertheless, tonight marks the first Nuggets-Timberwolves meeting since the second round of the 2024 NBA postseason. The Northwest Division rivals need a full seven games to decide the series, eventually ending with Minnesota notching a 98-90 win over Denver in Game 7 to advance to the Western Conference Finals.
Things have been quite even between these rivals for some time. Including that playoff series, the Timberwolves and Nuggets have each won seven of their last 14 encounters.
The Timberwolves eliminated the Nuggets in seven games in Round 2 of the 2023-24 playoffs.
If the Nuggets want to win tonight, they need a stronger effort. Their only two wins this season came in overtime against the Nets and Toronto Raptors — two teams projected to be among the worst in the NBA this year. Meanwhile. they crumbled when they faced legitimate teams in the LA Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Even though the Timberwolves haven’t been perfect, they at least defeated the Raptors by 11 points in regulation and also picked up a win against a solid Sacramento Kings squad. Even though things didn’t go as planned against the Mavericks, the T-wolves only lost that outing by two possessions.
At the end of the day, I think defense could be the difference here. The Nuggets are struggling to defend the ball, allowing the seventh-most points per game on the 11th-highest field-goal percentage with the 10th-worst defensive efficiency.
On the flip side, the Timberwolves rank 12th, 18th, and 15th in those regards. Not perfect either, but not nearly as bad as the opposition.
The Timberwolves’ defense has been better than the Nuggets to begin the 2024-25 season.
While this could wind up being a close game, I’m taking the Timberwolves to stand tall at home. Both sides have left much to be desired this season, however, the Timberwolves are closer to being a complete team. The Nuggets are struggling to defeat basement-dwellers and their lackluster defensive play makes them difficult to trust against the likes of Edwards, Julius Randle, and Rudy Gobert.
With that in mind, regardless of who wins, taking the Over on the 218-point total is a no-brainer. After all, the Nuggets’ last two outings averaged 267.5 total points while two of the Timberwolves’ last three games exceeded tonight’s projected mark.
Considering how the Over is 7-3 in the last 10 Denver-Minnesota matchups at Target Center, I say there’s a decent chance we’ll see quite a few points scored tonight.

Best Nuggets vs Timberwolves NBA Player Prop (11/1)
Even though Rudy Gobert is one of the best defensive centers in the NBA, he can’t contain Nikola Jokic. That’s why I’m taking the Serbian superstar to score o27.5 points (-104) for the best Nuggets vs. Timberwolves player prop bet.
Jokic has been having a terrific start to the 2024-25 campaign. The three-time NBA MVP is averaging 31.5 points on .573/.550/.778 splits through four games and has finished with Over on this prop in each of his last three outings — including a pair of 40-point efforts. He now gets to face the Timberwolves, who he’s handled quite well in recent years.
In his last 13 encounters with Minnesota, Jokic is averaging 31.3 points while shooting 51.9% from the floor and 33.3% from deep. He scored 28-plus points nine times during that stretch, which includes hitting the Over four times during the second-round playoff series.
In other words, you should feel pretty confident about this Jokic prop.
