See Picks & Statistics For The GameSunday fun-day is even better when you’ve got hoops at night. The Pistons make a rare trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on Pesky Portland. This game has some of the league’s youngest and brightest stars participating. Let’s talk hoops.
Game Information
- Moda Center Portland, OR
- Detroit Pistons (35-29) visit the (28-36) Portland Trail Blazers
- Previous Matchup: DET 118-115 January 6th, 2025

Scoot Henderson looks to continue his great start to the season.
Detroit Pistons @ Portland Trail Blazers
The Detroit Pistons are trying to close out a four game road trip. They are 1-2 with that one win being against the Jazz. They lost at the Intuit Dome and to the Golden State Warriors on this trip. Inglewood is a tough place to play and the Warriors are 11-1 since acquiring Jimmy Butler. So, don’t get cold on this team. Despite losing 2 straight they are still 7-3 in their last 10. This is still one of the most fun teams to watch in the entire NBA.

Pesky Portland hasn’t been as picturesque as the Pacific Northwest’s parks recently. Things have been up and down since their win streak that caught the association’s attention. They have lost two straight and are 5-5 in their last ten. If they still hope to slip into the play-in then they need to tighten up. Coach Chauncey Billups runs a tight ship so it is not out of the realm of possibility. Additionally, just like the Pistons this is a really fun team to watch.
This matchup of young up and coming teams should be an absolute banger of a game for fans.

NBA Game Analysis
The Pistons want home court and this tough trip made that goal more difficult. They get the Wizards twice after this one. Detroit is an elite fast break team and Portland is bottom five in defending the break out. The red and blue just need to come into this one and play their game. If Deni Avdija sits this will bolster their chances even more. Deni is switchable and his speed lends itself to transition defence.
If this turns into a shootout then Cade Cunningham should be able to exploit the Trail Blazers backcourt which is undersized compared to the 6’6 Cunningham. The over hit in 14 of the Portland Trail Blazers last 21 games at home. However, Detroit should avoid a shootout on the road. They have elite defenders like Isaiah Stewart who could help prevent this from turning into a track meet.
The Pesky Portland Trail Blazers are a different beast at home. They’re are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 games inside of the Moda Center. That is impressive for a team whose total record is below .500. Playing for their home faithful boosts their defensive effort which leads to steals and blocks. This young team knows how to turn defence into offence with their plethora of young athletes. They have three guards who look like they could be future potential All-Stars in Scoot Henderson, Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons.
Key Outlier.Bet Insights
- Jerami Grant has exceeded 1.5 three pointers in 4 of his last 5 games at home (2.2 three pointers/game average). Grant is a former Detroit Piston as well.
- Malik Beasley has exceeded 0.5 turnovers in 7 straight games vs. bottom 10 defences for turnovers forced (1.3 turnovers/game average). Detroit loves to get out and run and that includes Beasley. A single turnover isn’t much to ask for if this game has a fast pace.
- Isaiah Stewart has exceeded 1.5 blocks in 7 of his last 9 games (2.0 blocks/game average).
NBA Best Bet: Jalen Duren o27.5 PRA (-115)
Duren has only gotten better as the season has progressed. Head-to-head he has hit this line in both career games against the Blazers. This includes perhaps the best game of his career where he had 27 points and 22 rebounds. Additionally, he has gone over this line in 12 of his last 20 games. He has become a double double machine when he can stay out of foul trouble. I believe he should be able to avoid foul trouble tonight.
Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren are becoming one of the best two-man combos in the league, especially on DHOs and PnR sets
Cade’s vision and shot creation, coupled with Duren physical/athletic gifts and strong passing, makes them very hard to stop pic.twitter.com/VgmVbs5ss7

Bonus for Peepin’ Scribbles: I did also bet .5u on Isaiah Stewart 11.5 PRA in case this one goes sideways.
