Thunder vs Lakers NBA Cup Predictions & Picks (11/29)
The Thunder are heading to crypto.com Arena with a decent amount of momentum on their side, having gone 6-2 SU across their last eight games. That successful run includes wins in each of their last three outings with the most recent victory being a 105-101 effort against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
As usual, the Thunder’s victory resulted from another stellar performance by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who dropped 35 points while adding nine rebounds and five assists. The two-time NBA All-Star guard is now averaging 33.6 points, 7.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and .538/.433/.788 shooting splits in his last five games.
The Lakers, meanwhile, snapped a three-game skid with a 119-101 victory over the San Antonio Spurs two nights ago. JJ Redick’s team led by as many as 21 points as LeBron James recorded yet another triple-double (16 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds) while Dalton Knecht added 20 points and eight rebounds on top of shooting 4-of-10 from the three-point line.
Rookie Dalton Knecht played a big role in the Lakers’ win over the Spurs earlier this week.
Having said that, the Lakers’ latest win came on the road and now they must return home where they haven’t had much recent luck. After a 7-0 SU start at crypto.com Arena this season, Los Angeles has lost back-to-back home outings by an average of 13.0 points. A better effort will be needed against the Thunder, who own the second-best average scoring margin on the road in the NBA (plus-10.9).
It’s also difficult to have complete faith in the Lakers when their defense has been lackluster, allowing 118-plus points in four of their last five outings. Unfortunately, things won’t get any easier tonight with the Thunder averaging the 12th-most points in the Association this season.
Having said that, we can’t ignore the fact that the Lakers are 3-0 SU with a plus-9.3 average scoring margin in their last three encounters with the Thunder. In fact, Oklahoma City has won just once in its last five road games against Los Angeles, too. Will that change tonight?
Can the Thunder snap their losing streak against the Lakers?
The Verdict
I’m predicting a Thunder victory tonight. Even though the Lakers have won more than they’ve lost at home this season, the Thunder are the better team and legitimate NBA title contenders. Their defense is among the best in the league and could frustrate a Lakers attack that has been inconsistent at best. If Los Angeles isn’t perfect (or close to it) on both sides of the ball, Oklahoma City will easily walk away with the win.
As for the best bet, I’m taking the Thunder to score o117 points (-110). Again, the Lakers’ defense has been rather pedestrian lately, allowing 118-plus points five times in their eight previous games as well as in four of the last five. As long as Gilgeous-Alexander is healthy, the Thunder are talented enough to take advantage of those defensive issues and likely won’t have many issues scoring tonight.

Best Thunder vs Lakers NBA Player Prop (11/29)
Out of tonight’s available Thunder vs. Lakers player prop bets, I have my eye on Luguentz Dort o4.5 total rebounds (-109) as one of the better options.
Dort has been a productive rebounder this season, averaging a career-high 4.8 rebounds in 18 games. His play regarding this prop has been extremely consistent lately as the former Arizona State product is averaging 7.7 rebounds in his last six outings, finishing with the Over on each occasion. What’s even more impressive is that he finished with at least nine boards three times during that stretch.
With the Lakers’ offense struggling to get things going at home lately, Dort should see plenty of opportunities to capitalize on their missed shots, hitting the Over, once again, in the process.
Best Thunder vs. Lakers Player Prop: Lu Dort o4.5 Total Rebounds (-109)
