It’s conference tournament time! The Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament is happening again this season at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO. The bracket is set and all the madness kicks off this Tuesday!

Big 12 Tournament Best Bets

I’ll admit I have my eye set on a couple of winners here.

Texas Tech Red Raiders +375

The Red Raiders won three straight heading into the conference tournament, including four of their last five. This is a team that competed in all of their losses this season and ended up 2nd in the gauntlet of the Big 12. Looking at their path, they will face likely Baylor but possible Kansas State in the quarterfinals: two teams they already beat this season. Plus I love them in a 3rd meeting against Arizona in the semifinals. They split with the Wildcats during the regular season, but won by 16 at home and lost by 9 on the road.

The Red Raiders have an impressive resume with a win at Houston without JT Toppin, and as they push for a two seed, I like them to at least make the conference final.

Iowa State Cyclones +500

On the top of the bracket, I do like the Cyclones. They dropped to the 5 seed after losing some games late due to injuries. They are back to full strength and are one of the most dangerous teams in the country when healthy. The T-Mobile Center is Hilton Coliseum South. The Cyclone faithful travel very well to KC each year, and it might feel like a home game during some of Iowa State’s contests.

Despite not having a double bye, Iowa State will face Cincy or Oklahoma State, whom they should be with ease. Next up would be a rematch with BYU in the quarterfinals. The Cyclones lost to the Cougars by 3 just two games ago, and I doubt they’d let that happen a second time. If the Cyclones can get past BYU, they’ll likely face the other Cougars of Houston who are always a tough battle. The Cyclones were injured last time they lost to Houston on the road, but in a second meeting on a neutral site at full strength, give me Iowa State to find a way to win.
