While the second round of the men’s NCAA Tournament featured few notable upsets, a wild weekend in the NIT saw three of four #1 seeds go down. That leaves the field wide open ahead of the quarterfinals, which start tonight with Bradley hosting Chattanooga (7:00 pm ET, ESPN2).

The Braves (28-8), the #3 seed in the Dayton Region and only one of two seeded teams remaining, are in the quarters after following up an opening-round win over North Alabama with a road upset of #2 seed George Mason on Saturday. Bradley is in the NIT quarterfinals for the first time since 1982, when they won the most recent of their four NIT titles.
The Mocs (26-9), meanwhile, dominated the top-seeded Flyers 87-72 to reach the NIT quarterfinals for the second time in program history. While Dayton was the seeded team, the game was played in Chattanooga because the Flyers’ arena was not available, and the Mocs made the most of the home advantage in an extremely impressive victory.
The winner of this game will face the winner of tomorrow’s matchup between Kent State and Loyola Chicago in next week’s semifinals, with the other semifinal to be between either Oklahoma State or North Texas and UAB or UC Irvine, who is the lone #1 seed left in the 2025 NIT bracket.

Chattanooga vs Bradley Prediction & Picks
In the first round of the NIT, favorites were 10-6 against the spread, which was respectable considering how unpredictable the first round of this tournament can often be.
But the numbers flipped completely on their head in the second round, as underdogs were a perfect 8-0 ATS and 6-2 SU. The only two underdogs to not win outright were Arkansas State, who lost by two at North Texas, and Jacksonville State, who lost by five at UC Irvine.
Will chalk restore order in the quarterfinals?
When it comes to this matchup, Chattanooga has been excellent as an underdog this season, but Bradley has been put together a solid portfolio as a favorite.
Both KenPom and Bart Torvik profile this matchup as a win and a cover for Bradley, with KenPom projecting a 77-72 win for the Braves and Bart Torvik projecting an 80-73 win for Bradley.
That Bradley, already without third leading scorer Zek Montgomery (who opted out of playing in the NIT), won at George Mason with second leading scorer Darius Hannah scoring only one point and taking no shots from the field before in 23 minutes before exiting the game with a right knee injury, is an indication of what this team’s level is.
Montgomery and now Hannah, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament, are both big losses. But the Braves have reserves step up in each round so far, as Jaquan Johnson had 11 points and four steals against North Alabama and Corey Thomas had 21 points and 11 rebounds against George Mason.
This bodes well for tonight’s game against a solid Chattanooga squad. Take the Braves to cover.
