Here I’ll be focusing on one matchup in the ACC, featuring a potential National Champion contender. The #2 Duke Blue Devils host the Florida State Seminoles at Cameron Indoor Stadium for some Saturday hoops action.

Duke is all but running away with the ACC. Sure, they are only up one game on Clemson and Louisville, but with FSU, Wake and North Carolina remaining on their schedule, controlling their own destiny should be no problem. However, the young guys will need to stay focused and handle business the whole way through.

As for FSU, sitting at 7-10 in the conference is certainly not ideal. After dropping two straight and three of their last four, the Seminoles are looking for anything positive before heading into the conference tournament. Can they compete against the big, bad Blue Devils on the road?

Can Duke Roll at Home?

Duke has had plenty of success at home this year

Duke has solidified themselves as a legit national title contender, despite two freshmen leading them in scoring. One of those freshmen, Cooper Flagg, actually leads the Blue Devils in every single stat category: points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. The kid does it all.

I had my doubts simply because this team is young, and their inexperience has certainly shown in their losses, however back at home against an inferior Florida State team, my mind leans with Duke. I have no interest in laying the points, considering how slow Duke sometimes plays. But the Seminoles are a team that speeds things up. They rank 54th in possessions per game nationally, and speeding up the Blue Devils only gives their offense more opportunities.

As far as their defense, Florida State falls off immensely on the road, and I see the hosts taking full advantage.

They shoot 39% from deep, 57.6% from inside the arc and 78% from the stripe, Top 20 in each category. The offense is insanely talented, and with some extra opportunities, they’ll certainly take advantage.

They’ve hit this total in 3 of their L4 games, averaging 98.25 points per contest, only failing to cover on the road against Virginia (3rd slowest team in country) where they still put up 80. The Seminoles’ defense drops over 75 spots in the national rankings on the road, and so do pretty much all of their other analytics. FSU just gave up 89 points to Louisville on the road last Saturday, and I see the Blue Devils having a great day putting the ball in the hoop this week.
