Creighton’s big man Ryan Kalkbrenner has been unstoppable to start the season, and tonight he’s set up for another monster performance. Going up against a tiny Houston Christian squad, “Mr. Big East” should have a field day in the paint. Let’s dive into why his points prop is looking so tempting.

No need to worry about the spread in this matchup—is it too many points for Creighton? Maybe, but there’s something much more enticing on the board.
Creighton’s big man Ryan Kalkbrenner, or as I like to call him, “Mr. Big East,” has a points prop set at 18.5. That might seem high, but the fifth-year senior has been on a tear to start the 2024-25 season. Last year, he averaged just under that mark with 17.3 points per game, but last year is in the past. What matters is his recent production in non-conference matchups. In his first two games, he’s averaging 36 points, putting up an astounding 49 points against Rio Grande Valley and 24 against Fairleigh Dickinson.
Now he faces Houston Christian, fresh off a blowout loss to Texas. The Huskies were out-rebounded by 11 and had nine more turnovers than the Longhorns, and now they have to face an even tougher team in Omaha. This Houston Christian squad is tiny—the tallest player is 6’9” and their leading rebounder stands at 6’6”. And let’s be honest, we know these college rosters often exaggerate heights. Tonight, they’ll face a towering 7’1” Kalkbrenner, who should dominate against this undersized lineup. This is the smallest team Creighton has faced so far, giving Kalkbrenner a massive advantage. Both teams like to play at a fast pace, with Creighton in the top 190 and Houston Christian in the top 50.
Kalkbrenner’s rebound prop at 6.5 also looks solid given his height advantage, but with the way he’s been scoring, it’s hard not to keep riding his points prop.
