Indiana vs Nebraska Predictions
The game of the night in college basketball features the 8-2 Indiana Hoosiers traveling to Lincoln for their first true road game of the season to face the 6-2 Nebraska Cornhuskers, who are looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Michigan State last Saturday in East Lansing.
Let’s get straight to it—this is a classic “get right” spot for Nebraska, who had their rear ends handed to them by the Spartans. The Cornhuskers shot a dismal 4-22 from behind the arc and 14-32 from the floor in that game. While Nebraska is not as much of a deep threat as they have been in recent years, they remain a top-110 team in two-point percentage. Defensively, Nebraska has been stellar this season, ranking 32nd in adjusted defensive efficiency, 24th in turnover percentage, and 91st in free-throw rate. At home, their defense shines even brighter, ranking top 80 in adjusted defense, turnover percentage, rebounding, and free-throw rate, while having a top-180 defense in both two- and three-point shooting.
With almost a week of rest, the Cornhuskers should be ready to defend their home court against a Hoosiers team that has yet to face a true road environment this season, playing only three neutral-site games prior to tonight’s matchup.
Despite the lack of true road experience, Indiana has been battle-tested, taking on Louisville, Gonzaga, Providence, and South Carolina, winning two of those four matchups, with just one away from home. The Hoosiers are coming off a commanding 82-67 win over Minnesota on Monday, shooting over 66 percent from the floor while holding the Gophers to under 50 percent. However, Minnesota’s offense has been dreadful on the road, and Nebraska’s offense—nearly 100 spots better in efficiency—will provide a much stiffer challenge for Indiana’s defense.
Expect the Cornhuskers to come out swinging tonight after their embarrassment in East Lansing, while the Hoosiers face a true road test in Lincoln. Give me the Huskers!
