More SEC Basketball?!? Yes. Of course. This conference is incredibly deep this year, and naturally we have another Top 25 showdown to discuss! It might be a party in Starkville on Saturday as the Mississippi State Bulldogs host the Missouri Tigers.
Dennis Gates and his squad head on the road after winning 5 of their L6 games, and are one of the hottest teams in basketball. Missouri is 5-2 and sits in 4th place of the SEC. Coming off a win against #16 Ole Miss, the Tigers will now take on #14 Mississippi State in their 2nd of 4 straight ranked matchups.
The Bulldogs are back at home and need a win badly. They’ve dropped 4 of their L6 games, resulting in a 4-4 conference record, plus they needed overtime in both of those wins. Will they be able to rally and take down the Tigers at home?

Tigers Look to Upset Bulldogs on the Road

Caleb Grill and Missouri take on the Bulldogs in Starkville
The Missouri Tigers are a very good basketball team this year, but they might be home court merchants. Sure, they had a big upset win against Florida on the road, but other than that, they have looked very flat. Plus, they haven’t been away from home much and it truly shows.
Missouri is 1-4 away from Colombia this year, losing to Memphis, Auburn and Texas on the road, while also dropping one to Illinois on a neutral site. They have not had a solid defensive outing away from home this year so far, and I don’t see it changing this weekend. Missouri ranks north of 300 in offensive rebounds allowed (325th) and FT Rate defense (359th). The Bulldogs should feast on the offensive glass and get plenty of opportunities from the free throw line. However, on the offensive end, the Tigers are actually the #1 team in FT Rate in their 5 games away from home.
Missouri is a Top 15 offense with a Top 50 defense that doesn’t travel with them. Both teams have a couple shooters coming off fantastic games, and I see the offensive success continuing in Starkville.

Give me points in StarkVegas! Missouri might not be the fastest team in the nation, but like I said, they give up tons of offensive boards and free throws, but get there plenty themselves. The offense is just as good on the road while the defense is nonexistent. As for Mississippi State, they just had one of their best offensive performances of the season, and still lost to Alabama.
Josh Hubbard put up 38 by himself, but the Bulldogs were beaten at home. They have an entire week off until their next matchup, so I see them bringing their A-game in this one. Missouri has another tough matchup this week as they head to Knoxville to take on the Volunteers. While they may or may not be looking ahead, I think both of these teams go back and forth in an exciting, fast paced contest.
