See Picks & Statistics For The GameNotre Dame enters this matchup exhausted after playing essentially three games in four days, including a four-overtime thriller and a narrow win over Pitt yesterday. Meanwhile, North Carolina is well-rested and ready to push the tempo against a fatigued Irish squad. With the Tar Heels boasting a top-15 offense and a significant edge in pace, this game has all the makings of a lopsided result.

#12 Notre Dame vs #5 North Carolina Best Bet
Coming off essentially three games in four days, Notre Dame now faces North Carolina after grinding out a win over Pitt in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Fighting Irish lucked into foul shots at the buzzer, going one for two at the line to escape with a 55-54 victory. They struggled offensively, shooting just 39.6% from the floor and 20% from beyond the arc. Before that, they endured a grueling four-overtime battle to take down Cal on Saturday.
Meanwhile, North Carolina enters well-rested after losing to Duke at home on Saturday. The Tar Heels should be fully prepared to take on a Notre Dame team that has played more basketball in the last few days than almost any team in the country.
Since February 1, North Carolina has maintained the 11th-best offense while boasting a top-120 defense. They excel at protecting the basketball, shooting efficiently inside and out, and creating second-chance opportunities. Over that same stretch, Notre Dame ranks nearly 100 spots lower, with a top-180 offense and a top-100 defense.
North Carolina loves to push the pace and will do everything possible to turn this into a track meet. The Tar Heels rank inside the top 100 in tempo, while the Irish are nearly in the 300s. Forcing Notre Dame to exert even more energy will be the key to success.
I see North Carolina running them out of the gym and winning by well over ten this afternoon.
