One team will get to close a successful season with a trophy tonight in Daytona Beach, Florida, where Seattle and High Point will face off in the championship game of the 2024 College Basketball Invitational.
The top-seeded Panthers (26-8) have had the best season in the program’s history on the Division I level, setting a single-season record for wins while winning the Big South regular season championship and making their best run in a postseason tournament.
They fell short of making the NCAA Tournament for the first time, but with wins over #9 Cleveland State (93-74) and #4 Arkansas State (81-80), they are a win away from closing out Alan Huss’s first season as head coach with a CBI title.
The third-seeded Redhawks (22-14) have had an impressive run in the CBI, defeating #14 Delaware State (79-66), #11 Evansville (71-57), and #7 Fairfield (75-58) all by double digits. With a win over High Point, Seattle will match a record for most wins in a season since they returned to Division I in 2009 (23, set two seasons ago).
With some talented scorers on both sides, we should be in for a good game to close out the CBI. Who will take the win? Read on.

Seattle vs High Point Betting Analysis and Prediction
Defense, especially perimeter defense, has been a strength for Seattle all season. They rank 56th in adjusted defensive efficiency (KenPom) and are one of the best teams in college basketball in defending the three (29.6%).
However, they have really been on the ball defensively in the CBI. That has led to the Redhawks winning three consecutive games by double digits for the first time since opening last season with five consecutive double-digit wins.
Seattle’s three CBI opponents thus far have shot a combined 42.3% (71 of 168) from the field and 29.1% (16 of 55) from three.
In their semifinal win over Fairfield, the Redhawks held the Stags to 37.7% (23 of 61) from the field and 25.9% (7 of 27) from three. The latter number is especially significant because Fairfield has been one of the better three-point shooting teams in college basketball this season, as well as one of the most prolific.
Seattle will face its stiffest challenge against High Point, who ranks 35th in Division I in adjusted offensive efficiency. The Panthers (84.4 PPG) are tenth in Division I in scoring, and they are 17-4 SU and 11-8 ATS when scoring 80+ points this season.
Seattle vs High Point Players to Watch
Seattle
- Cameron Tyson: 17.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 38.5% 3PT
- Alex Schumacher: 13.3 PPG, 5.1 APG, 3.6 RPG
- John Christofilis: 13.1 PPG, 2.3 RPG, 40.5% 3PT
High Point
- Duke Miles: 17.5 PPG, 3.6 APG, 2.5 RPG, 37.3% 3PT
- Kezza Giffa: 16.2 PPG, 2.9 APG, 2.8 RPG
- Kimani Hamilton: 14.9 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 2.3 APG
High Point is a decent three-point shooting team, but they are one of the nation’s better two-point shooting squads, and if they have a lead in the late stages, they will be in a strong position. The Panthers were only 15 of 21 from the line against Arkansas State but are one of Division I’s leaders in attempted free throws per game (25.8) and shooting percentage (78.0%), resulting them being first nationally in made free throws per game (20.1).
However, defense is where the scales may tip in this matchup. While Seattle is 56th in Division I in adjusted offensive efficiency, High Point is just 254th.
With their win over Arkansas State, the Panthers improved to 5-5 SU when allowing 80+ points this season, but they are just 3-7 ATS in that scenario.
In Tyson, Schumacher, and Christofilis, Seattle has three good scorers, with Tyson and Christofilis both strong outside shooters.
What High Point has done this season is extremely impressive, especially under a first-year coach. But I think their weakness on defense and Seattle’s aptitude on that side of the ball will see the Redhawks take the championship trophy back to the Pacific Northwest.
