Texas Tech and Houston bring us a Big 12 battle this Saturday as the Cougars host the Red Raiders for an in-state battle. Both teams are on impressive winning streaks, but only one can keep theirs going tomorrow.
The Red Raiders have won five straight games and seven of their last eight. Admittedly, they’ve been cruising down easy street having lost their two ranked matchups this year. But can they bring some fire on the road in Houston?
The Cougars have not lost a game since November. After coming back in dramatic fashion against Kansas in Lawrence, Houston went into Morgantown and took down the Mountaineers in what many thought was a game they may have dropped. Can they continue their winning ways at home against a hungry team from Lubbock?

Can Red Raiders Rally on the Road?

Believe it or not, Texas Tech is 4-0 on the road this season. The problem is their Top 30 defense dissappears and drops to 101st overall away from home. Clearly this isn’t a bad defense, but they do take a hit outside of Lubbock. Texas Tech plays slow, not as slow as Houston, but still rank north of 280 in possessions per game.
The Red Raiders offense is just as good wherever they play, but tonight they face a top tier defense in Houston. The Cougars control the tempo of the ball game, and they will come to play on the defensive end. They are the #1 defense in the country for a reason, and they should have no problem shutting down a Texas Tech team in their first “true” road test.
I trust these slow offenses to limit the scoring opportunities as we target an under here.

Death, Taxes, Houston Unders. This team is the 5th slowest in the country, and with Texas Tech playing just as slow, I’m not sure if either team will touch 60 in this game. Both defenses are phenomenal, and neither team likes each other at all. Given it is an in-state rivalry game, I think stopping the opponent will be the main focus for both squads, especially considering the amount of possessions we will see.
I think points will be at a premium as both defenses will bring their A-game on Saturday night.
