Over the last four years, Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark have picked up many individual and team accolades. But the one thing missing for two of the biggest stars of women’s college basketball is a national championship. Tonight, Bueckers and Clark will go head-to-head for a chance to play for a national championship as UConn and Iowa meet in the Final Four (9:00 pm ET, ESPN).
After NC State and South Carolina face off in the first semifinal in Cleveland, the Huskies (33-5) and Hawkeyes (33-4) will take the court at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
While the first game features the 36-0 Gamecocks, the second game is the headliner of the two. On one side, you have Bueckers and the top women’s college basketball program of all time, who’s trying to win its first national championship since 2016. On the other, you have the player of the moment in Clark, who has Iowa on the cusp of a second straight trip to the title game.
Who will move on to face either the Wolfpack or Gamecocks on Sunday? Read on for UConn vs Iowa betting picks, as well as a prediction for the matchup.

UConn vs Iowa Prediction & Picks
Can UConn do what LSU couldn’t? Clark went for 41 points and 12 assists in the Hawkeyes’ Elite Eight win over the Tigers, and she tied a career high with nine three-pointers.
The Huskies did a great job in the Elite Eight against JuJu Watkins (9 of 25 FG) and USC, who shot only 32.9% from the field, but tonight brings a completely different animal.
But if there is any team that could be up for the task, it’s UConn. That they have survived season-ending injuries to Azzi Fudd and Aubrey Griffin to return to the Final Four shows their makeup as a team, but it also helps to have two studs in Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards.
After missing all of last season and a big chunk of her second season, Bueckers has been healthy this season, and like Clark, she is delivering on the big stage.
UConn vs Iowa Players to Watch
UConn
- Paige Bueckers: 22.0 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 3.9 APG, 2.3 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 41.8% 3PT
- Aaliyah Edwards: 17.3 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.6 SPG
Iowa
- Caitlin Clark: 32.0 PPG, 9.0 APG, 7.3 RPG, 1.8 SPG,
- Kate Martin: 13.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.4 APG
In the NCAA Tournament, Bueckers is averaging 28.0 PPG, 9.0 RPG, and 5.0 APG while shooting 51.1% from the field. In the win over USC, she had 28 points (11 of 23 FG, 3 of 6 3PT, 3 of 3 FT), ten rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks, providing an all-around effort to lead the way.
Tonight might have to be her best performance yet, and the same can be said for Edwards, who had 24 points and six rebounds against the Trojans and is averaging 16.8 PPG and 8.5 RPG in the NCAA Tournament.
Can they combine again to lead the Huskies to the championship game? The women’s Final Four is often good for at least one upset or underdog win—UConn has been on the wrong end of a few of those in recent years—and a win for the underdog here is much more likely than in the first game.
In fact, that’s the direction I’m leaning here. I was on the wrong side in Iowa’s Elite Eight win over LSU, and I may be again here. But Bueckers is a superstar in her own right, and I think a magical moment is ahead for her and the Huskies.
