Army won their first four games of the season. Now they are looking to break a three-game losing streak. They were off last week, presumably recovering from the 70 points that Wake Forest scored against them in a home loss. They scored 56 themselves as there is nothing wrong with their offense this season. Wake Forest, and Wisconsin the week before, were physical mismatches, but Army should be okay in that area against Air Force. They have had success against them in the recent past.

Air Force’s only blemishes this season were two close losses, one a high-scoring game against Utah State and the other a low-scoring affair against San Diego State. This is the top rushing team in college football, and they also have a stingy defense. They are third in the nation in yards allowed and seventh in points. There is a very good reason that the total is so low for this game. These teams know each other well and play the same style. Some might say that is boring, but I think it makes it interesting.

The Falcons might have been playing lighter competition than Army, but their defensive numbers still stand out. If this game comes down to which team is most likely to get a defensive stop when it matters most, I don’t see how you can bet against Air Force.
