While Alabama appears to be in control of the SEC West and is still on course to land in the College Football Playoff, chaos could be around the corner. Auburn heads to Texas A&M still in control of their destiny in the SEC West, and if the Tigers run the table and beat the Crimson Tide later this month, they could be loved for life by Cincinnati or another CFP hopeful.
But first, they must successfully get through their trip to College Station. The Aggies have found their formula in recent weeks, with their stunning win over Alabama kickstarting a three-game win streak. The Aggies need some things to happen to win the SEC West, but they’re not out of the race either thanks to their head-to-head win over the Tide.
The winner of this one has the inside track on a New Year’s Six Bowl if Georgia and Alabama both end up in the CFP, so there is a lot at stake. It should be a physical affair at Kyle Field.

Auburn +4.5
The Tigers have posted nice back-to-back wins against Arkansas and Ole Miss. I thought those programs might have been ahead of Auburn, but the proof was on the field. The defense especially came through as Ole Miss was held to the fewest points they have scored in the Lane Kiffin era. The Aggies will attack differently than the Rebels, but it was still an impressive showing. On offense, QB Bo Nix has looked better and better as the season has progressed. When he is mistake-free, they can compete with pretty much anyone in college football.
After beating Alabama, Texas A&M has done what it was supposed to do with dominant wins over South Carolina and Missouri. In the wins, their ground game came alive with both of their running backs rushing for more than 100 yards in each. The defense continues to be solid too. They gave up just 14 points in each win, and for the season they are giving up just 16 points per game. Auburn is pretty balanced on offense and will challenge the Aggies with their physical play.
This should be a good game, but it is hard to see either team really pulling away from the other. I am not expecting either quarterback to be flawless against a really good defense, but I think we get a game that is decided by a kick at the end. I look for Texas A&M to be on the winning side, but getting as many points as we do with Auburn is tough to pass up, even on the road.
