Ohio vs Miami (OH) Bet
The grittiest game of the week in the grittiest city, the MAC Championship always holds a special place for college football diehards. This year, the (9-3) Ohio Bobcats face off against the reigning champions, the (8-4) Miami (OH) Redhawks—a rematch of their October 19th clash, where the Redhawks claimed a 30-20 victory.
Relying on a team to win back-to-back games against the same opponent is always risky. Ohio’s recent schedule hasn’t exactly sharpened their edge, as they’ve faced some of the MAC’s weakest teams: Ball State, a crumbling Toledo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State (arguably the worst team in the country), and Buffalo. While the Bobcats dominated those matchups, winning all five by double digits, it’s hard to gauge how prepared they are for a step up in competition. This isn’t a knock on Ohio—they’re talented—but compared to Miami (OH), it’s a different story.
The Redhawks, on the other hand, are battle-tested, coming off back-to-back wins against two of the MAC’s top defenses in Bowling Green and Northern Illinois, both by double digits. Their lone conference loss came against Toledo early in the season, back when Toledo still had its act together. Since then, Miami has been rolling.
The key to this game will be Miami’s ability to stop Ohio’s lethal ground attack, led by quarterback Parker Navarro and running back Anthony Tyus. With the Redhawks boasting a strong pass defense, if they can shut down the run, Miami (OH) could pave its way to another MAC title.
