Oklahoma State has been one of college football’s more consistent winners under Mike Gundy, but the Cowboys’ success this season was certainly unexpected. They are still undefeated thanks to a defense that really shuts things down in the second half of ballgames. It’s too early to call them a serious contender for a place in the College Football Playoff, but if they keep winning, the sky is the limit.
Iowa State has been the biggest disappointment in the Big 12. They started the season ranked in the top ten and some were thinking playoffs. They have not lived up to that preseason buzz.
Perhaps the Cyclones just can’t handle the expectations of being a heavyweight. With the Cowboys coming to town unbeaten they can shift into underdog mode even though they are favored by a touchdown.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs Iowa State Cyclones Best Bet
Oklahoma State Cowboys +7.5
The Cowboys have not been getting much respect all season, so why should this week be any different? They have covered in their last four games, so as competition has stiffened they have become more profitable.
This year’s team is led by their defense. They are giving up just under 20 points per game, but what has been most impressive is that they have been able to make adjustments at halftime and shut down teams in the second half. That is how they beat Texas last week.
Iowa State has strong defensive numbers too, in part helped by dominant games against UNLV and Kansas. The reason for their struggles is that their offense has been h0-hum. The numbers don’t look bad at all, but they have not been able to make the plays when they most need them. Breece Hall was supposed to be one of the best running backs in college football, and that has not been the case. But underestimate Iowa State at your own risk.
Iowa State is more than capable of beating Oklahoma State or any other team in the league. But based on the body of work this season, I don’t see how you can make them such strong favorites, even at home. The Cowboys have not dominated their competition, but this one might easily devolve into a defensive battle. With so few points being scored, I wouldn’t trust either team to win by a touchdown.
Oklahoma State vs Iowa State College Football Score Prediction
