See Picks & Statistics For The GameRivalry week in College Football continues this Saturday with a Lone Star State Showdown between two teams fighting for a spot in their conference championship matchup. The Texas Longhorns go into Kyle Field to take down the Texas A&M Aggies and secure a spot in the SEC Championship in their first year in the conference. However, could the Aggies play spoiler and pull off this upset at home?
The Longhorns are currently ranked 3rd in the country, losing just one game to Georgia so far this season. Since that loss, they’ve won four straight games, are the only 1 loss team in the SEC, and control their own destiny. Will that be enough to get the win in College Station?
The Aggies are coming off a thrilling loss to Auburn in 4 overtimes, giving them their 3rd loss of the season and 2nd in the past 3 weeks. However, Texas A&M is still in control. Beating the Longhorns should be enough to tiebreak them into the SEC Championship against the Georgia Bulldogs. Let’s dive into this one and see if an upset might be brewing in College Station!

Ewers and Longhorns End Solid Regular Season
Besides their one slip up to the Bulldogs, Texas has been the team to beat all season long. However, one could make an argument that they’ve had a bit of a lighter schedule compared to some other SEC opponents.
In terms of ranked wins, Texas has 3 on the season: @ #10 Michigan, vs #18 Oklahoma, and @ #25 Vanderbilt. The problem with that resume is the fact that none of those teams are ranked anymore. So how GOOD could those wins actually be? Obviously we know Texas’ ceiling is incredibly high, which may be what’s causing the inflated rankings despite not proving themselves against other CFP caliber teams. However the same could really be said about Texas A&M.
They opened up the season losing to #7 Notre Dame, who is more than likely in the CFP this year. Otherwise, they beat then #9 Missouri (now 21st), and then #8 LSU (Not Ranked), but they lost to unranked South Carolina on the road (now 15th). Being 8-3 with that schedule isn’t all that impressive in my eyes, and it’s mainly due to the lack of offense for Texas A&M.
Their defense can only carry them so far, against the Longhorns, they are going to have to score, and I’m not sure they are capable of doing so.
#3 Texas Longhorns vs #20 Texas A&M Aggies Best Bets
Texas vs Texas A&M Prediction: Texas Wins & Covers, Under 48.5
Best Bets: Texas -5 (-110) BetOnline
This is more of a fade of the Texas A&M offense, who I think will have a hard time keeping up against the Longhorns offense. While they haven’t been scoring 50+ every game, they’ve only scored 20 or less twice. I have been celebrating the Aggies defense all year long, and while I do think they can slow Ewers down for a bit, I doubt they have the offensive firepower to keep up with the scoring.
I don’t see there being a whole lot of points in this game, but I do trust the Longhorns to stretch this out at the end, winning by more than a touchdown for us.
