North Carolina is the favorite at home even though they have been a disappointment nearly all season. Insult? Or is Wake finally going to crash?

This one might be the first to 60 points with the way these teams play. Both quarterbacks should put up big numbers.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs North Carolina Tar Heels Best Bet

I know the Demon Deacons have not played a very tough schedule, but they are winning by an average of 20 points per game. They have not scored any less than 35 points in a game, and QB Sam Hartman is having a wonderful season. Hartman has thrown 22 touchdown passes and has another six scores on the ground.

Wake Forest’s defense is far from elite, and they are especially light against the run, which could be a problem. Some of those defensive numbers are inflated by the 416 yards rushing they gave up to Army, but they were in control of that game.

North Carolina was supposed to build on last year even though they lost their top running backs and receivers, due to the presence of Heisman hopeful QB Sam Howell. Howell has had a great individual season and is one of the top players in college football. But his individual success hasn’t been enough because the Tar Heels can’t stop anyone. They have given up 35+ points in each of their last three games, losing two. North Carolina should be able to match Wake Forest score for score, and they will likely have to.

This is a high total, but I don’t think it is high enough. A few weeks ago the Demon Deacons scored 70 points against Army in the highest-scoring game in college football this season. UNC’s defense isn’t any better than Army’s, so look for a wild game in Chapel Hill. I expect both quarterbacks to push 400 yards, and unless these teams stumble in the red zone repeatedly, we are going to see lots of scores. Last year, North Carolina won in a 59-53 shootout. Whoever wins this year will have to score similarly.
