The college football storylines in the Mountain West usually involve the likes of Boise State and Fresno State, but this is a matchup between two teams who are off to get starts this season.
Right now these teams are a combined 8-1 entering today’s tilt. Can they be considered contenders in a Mountain West that looks deeper than normal?
Wyoming is undefeated, but it is a little too early to think get too excited about the Cowboys. Today’s game will be their toughest test so far.

Wyoming Cowboys vs Air Force Falcons Betting Outlook
The Cowboys might have a perfect record, but that might be a bit deceiving about their quality. In their last game, they only beat UConn, who might be the worst team in college football, by two points on the road. That is a long road trip, but the Huskies are terrible.
Wyoming only has one cover on the season, but at least they have been playing FBS teams. This is their first MWC test, and to pull off the upset they are going to need the offense to improve. They don’t really have strength on that side of the ball, but running is their strength. Receiver Isaiah Neyor is a big target at 6’3”, and he is a big-play threat, averaging over 17 yards a catch. They are going to have to find a way to get him the ball as he is their best physical mismatch.
Wyoming’s defensive numbers are not overwhelming either. They are posting solid numbers, but they have not played any good teams. When you play Air Force you know exactly what you are going to get, and the Cowboys have actually done a great job of slowing them down in the past. Three times in their past six contests, Wyoming has held Air Force under 200 yards rushing. That is tough to do.
Falcons Look to Add to Strong Start
Air Force has to be kicking themselves a little. They lost at home to Utah State by four pointsor else they would also be perfect this season.
The Falcons are the top rushing team in the country, averaging 367 yards per game on the season. Quarterback Haaziq Daniels has been a good triggerman for their triple-option attack. Unsurprisingly, he has only 384 yards passing, but also unsurprisingly, he has 419 yards rushing and eight rushing touchdowns. The Falcons will lull opponents to sleep with the running game, but when they do throw they look to beat you deep. It is not going to change anytime soon, but Wyoming has had its number of late.
Also part of the Air Force formula is stingy defense. They have not played any significant programs yet, but their numbers are solid. They are always a little undersized, but they tackle well and force you to create long drives. This group should have success against Wyoming, another offense that is far from great. As long as this group is on its toes the Falcons should win with ease.
College Football Betting Trends to Consider for Wyoming Cowboys vs Air Force Falcons

- Air Force is 5-1 ATS in their last six games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.

- The Falcons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in October.
Wyoming Cowboys vs. Air Force Falcons Best Bet
Air Force -6
If you like trends then you are going to like the opposite side. Air Force beat Wyoming the last time they played in 2019, but the Cowboys have covered the nine previous times. It is encouraging that they have had some success against that Air Force run game, but you can’t look at their last game against UConn, or their resume to date and back them to challenge the Falcons this week. It is always a nice story to carry an undefeated record into October, but there is no buzz for good reason. Air Force is a great value play in this matchup.
