Chargers vs Texans AFC Wild Card Predictions & Picks (1/11)
Both of these AFC contenders enter the NFL postseason following impressive double-digit win campaigns. The Chargers finished second in the AFC West with an 11-6 record in Jim Harbaugh’s first season at the helm while the Texans captured their second straight AFC South title with a 10-7 performance.
The Chargers have some momentum in the form of a three-game win streak. The offense has been clicking amid the successful run as Justin Herbert & Co. have averaged 36.0 points per game with a plus-18.0 average scoring margin.
The Texans, meanwhile, played to mixed results recently. They’re 4-5 SU in their last nine games and lost back-to-back outings down the stretch before beating the three-win Tennessee Titans in Week 18 to end the regular season.
To make matters worse, the Texans’ offense has been sputtering at home. DeMeco Ryans’ squad has averaged only 18.0 points and 225.0 total yards per game in its last four outings at NRG Stadium, which more than explains the team’s 1-3 SU record in those contests.
Can the Texans avoid another dud performance at NRG Stadium?
If recent history is any indication, the Texans might struggle to keep things close tonight. Not only have they only covered the spread twice in their last six games, but they are also only 1-4 ATS in their last five home games against the Chargers, who happen to be 7-2 ATS overall in their nine most recent counters with the Texans.
Additionally, Los Angeles is 5-0 ATS in its last five road games whereas Houston is 4-6 ATS in its last 10 home games dating back to the 2023 NFL season. Speaking of which, the Texans are only 3-4 SU as the road underdog in the last two seasons. The Chargers, on the flip side, are 7-3 SU as the road favorite in that time.
With that being said, take the Chargers to win and cover the spread this Wild Card Weekend. The Texans have been trending in the wrong way for weeks now and I don’t see that changed against the Chargers, who are scoring 30-plus points every week at this point.

Best Chargers vs Texans NFL Wild Card Player Prop Bet
With the NFL playoffs beginning, I’m feeling spicy. That’s why I’m going with a Ladd McConkey anytime touchdown (+150 on SportsBetting) for the best Chargers vs. Texans player prop bet.
McConkey heads into the NFL Wild Card Round following a dominant rookie season that saw him rack up 1,149 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 82 catches in 16 games. Three of those touchdowns came in the former George playmaker’s last four games, giving him a ton of momentum at the moment.
Luckily for McConkey, the Texans are tied for giving up the second-most TDs to WRs this season. In other words, if the opportunities are there, he should hit paydirt.
Best Chargers vs. Texans Player Prop: Ladd McConkey Anytime Touchdown (+150)
