A Giant Task
The Giants come in as underdogs yet again this week, as the #6 seed look to take down the #1 seed Eagles in their 3rd matchup of the season.
Both regular season matchups between these two bitter rivals are hard to actually take anything from. The first matchup was a blowout by the Eagles, 48-22 and was a day in which the Giants just had an off day and couldn’t get anything going.
The regular season finale between these two might have a bit more to take away, as the Giants rested most of their starters, with the 6 seed locked up, yet stuck around with the Eagles starters, only to lose 22-16.
Obviously the impressive blowout win by the Eagles can’t be ignored, but the close game to finish the season when the Eagles HAD to win to lock up the #1 seed against the Giants fielding mostly backups was more telling for me.
Pair that with the momentum of the Giants performance in the Wild Card Game to knock off the Vikings in Minnesota and things could get very interesting in Philly on Saturday.
QB Daniel Jones seems to have taken the next step and if he can somehow lead the Giants to a massive win on the Eagles’ turf on Saturday, it is no doubt he is the franchise QB of the present and future for the GMen.
Possible Head Coach of the Year Brian Daboll seems to have cracked the Daniel Jones code and it has led to the Giants success this season and most likely for years to come.
He did it in Buffalo with Josh Allen and he seems to have done it with Daniel Jones.
If Jones can play the way he has been playing the last month and if the Giants defense can continue it’s solid play, this game will be a barn-burner.
Those are Big IF’s, obviously, but I am a believer in the Giants.
Can the Eagles stay flyin’ high?
The Eagles obviously have other ideas, and if their incredible play from this season carries on into the post-season, they will be playing for a chance to lift the Lombardi trophy.
The Eagles finished the season with an NFC best record of 14-3 and have one of, if not the best, rosters in the NFL.
Offseason acquisition WR AJ Brown took their offense to a whole new level, and lifted the play of QB Jalen Hurts and fellow WR Devonta Smith.
He was sensational in this dominant offense and will be a handful yet again on Saturday night.
QB Jalen Hurts was banged up to end the regular season but is off the injury report and is ready to go.
The Eagles securing the Number 1 seed was crucial for not only the obvious reasons, but to also give Hurts an extra week of rest.
He is ready to go and the MVP candidate will come out fired up on Saturday night to want to bury the Giants for the 3rd time this season and a chance to go to the NFC Championship game.
Hurts went into this season needing to prove himself to many (myself included) as a legit franchise QB and his play has silenced a lot of the critics.
If he leads the Eagles past the Giants and then secures the NFC crown on his way to a Super Bowl, those questions will be a figment of the past.
With so much on the line on Saturday night, in one of the most exciting matchups of the Divisional Round, who will come out on top?
Prediction
I am going to keep this short and sweet.
The Giants are covering.
They might even win outright.
As I laid out above, I have bought in to what Brain Daboll, Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and the Giants are selling.
The Eagles are dynamic. They have it all, and are probably the best overall team in football.
But I am going to ride with the underdogs here to cover and hang around in this one. I am not going to suggest betting the money line, but I will be honest in saying I will have a small financial investment in the Giants to win outright.
Purely for the vibes.
But my Best Bet is the Giants with the points. Be great, Danny Dimes.
Best Bet
Giants +7.5 (-110)
Player Prop of the Game
Daniel Jones o44.5 Rush Yards (-122)
There are a lot of players in this game worth taking a look at for props, but I am going to ride with Danny Dimes.
We saw obviously what Jones did on the ground last week against the Vikings, rushing for 78 yards on 17 carries.
He has established himself as a true threat in the run game and I totally see the Giants wanting to run the ball and keep the Eagles high powered offense off the field.
Jones will surely have 8-10 carries, maybe even more to put the Eagles front 7 in a lot of decision making spots.
Also, with how well the Eagles rush the passer, Jones will certainly have to scramble.
I love Jones rushing on and off script in this one and he should cruise over this line.
Run, Danny, Run!
