Rams vs. Eagles Analysis & Breakdown
The City of Brotherly ‘Shove’
Last week the Eagles rolled. The Packers fumbled the opening kick-off and the Eagles never looked back. They secured a 7-0 lead with less than 2-minutes off the clock and their offense seemed to do whatever they wanted on the ground. Prior to the game there was concern with Jalen Hurts returning from concussion protocol and having missed their last 3 games; he showed no rush and helped secure the win.
Saquon Barkley once again dominated the game, he finished with 119 yards on the ground and it honestly could’ve been more if he didn’t take a knee on a home run last week. Barkley continues to see 20+ carries a game and now facing the 22nd ranked Rams run defense.
Air Attack
The Rams this year were a team everyone counted out early. After losing both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, their offense fell silent and Matt Stafford was struggling. In games with both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp this year, the Rams were 8-3; they averaged 2.5 touchdowns per game and almost 340 yards of offense per contest.
Los Angeles was a completely different team this year when both their star wideouts were in the lineup. This doesn’t even account for Tyler Higbee; he was hurt last week against the Vikings but is expected to make his return this week. Higbee made his return right before Christmas but was on a limited snap count.
Over his L2 games, Higbee’s got12 targets, 10 catches and over 100 yards; this is with him playing just the 1st quarter of the Wild Card Game.
The Rams are going to attack you through the air, the Eagles are going to gash you with their ground game; two different worlds collide in this NFC Divisional Game.
Dallas Goedert o3.5 Receptions (-119)
Dallas Goedert is finally back in the Eagles lineup and healthy. Philadelphia has so many elite pass catchers on this offense it’s easy to see how sometimes Goedert can get lost in the mix. This year Goedert’s spent some time on the sidelines with injury, but he looks to be all the way back with no limitations.
Last week, against the Packers, Goedert caught 4 of his 6 targets for 47 yards including a touchdown where he muscled his way into the endzone from 23 yards out.
Goedert shows up in the post-season and his resume speaks to the same. He averages 4 receptions a game in the playoffs, he’s seen 6+ targets per game over the last 3 seasons and he averaged 5.3 receptions per game during Philly’s run to the Super Bowl in 2022.
Hurts has shown his comfort with Goedert and leaned on him in big games. During the 2022 Super Bowl, Godert secured 6 of his 7 targets and in last years Wild Card Round he finished with 4 catches on 6 targets and a Philly’s only touchdown.
The Rams rank 30th in receptions allowed to the TE position and have allowed 8 of the L10 starting TEs to hit this mark. Look for Goedert to make his presence felt on Sunday.

Matthew Stafford o214.5 Passing Yards (-108)
Its the post-season and that’s when Matt Stafford comes to play. Last week Stafford threw for 209 yards, was 19/27 and threw 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. This was a game in which the Rams were up the entire game, even going into halftime up 24-3.
Philadelphia’s defense ranks #1 in pass yards allowed this year and they’ve held 6 of the L10 QBs they’ve faced under this number. With Los Angeles entering this game as a 6-point dog, they’ll be forced to throw the ball, not only because they may be playing from behind, but this offense just operates better when Stafford can move the ball through the air.
This year, with both Nacua and Kupp in the lineup, Stafford is averaging 241.3 pass yards per game; he’s recorded a 66% completion rate and he’s thrown 18 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. When he’s got his guys in the lineup, Stafford balls.
Staffy’s gone under this line in 4 straight games, but this week it’s win or go home. The Eagles present a tough test, not only is there defense formidable, but the weather in Philly this weekend presents it’s own challenges. It’s simple though, if the Rams hope to win the game, they’ll need to move the ball through the air.
In Matthew Stafford we trust.
