My mouth is salivating. I can practically taste the grilled hot wings and ice cold Coors Light that will be consumed on the first NFL Sunday. We are so close and I know you have NFL Fantasy drafts kicking off, so let BettingNews help you find gems up and down the draft. We’ve covered the top three skill positions here at Betting News in our NFL Fantasy value picks series. Last week we covered my two favorite tight ends to draft in the first 5 rounds. Now it’s time to dig deeper. So let’s dig in and find some gems!
This is an ongoing series to highlight players who REEK of value in NFL fantasy drafts. We aren’t talking about McCaffrey with the 1st overall pick, but instead we are going to be finding gems. Each article will feature a position within a range of draft rounds (we will always skip the 1st round). We will assume that these picks are for 12-team leagues with .5 PPR and will not be discussing in terms of Superflex. On top of that I’ll highlight a futures bet that corresponds with each player, all of whose odds can be found on BETONLINE.
So without further ado, let’s kick it off with NFL fantasy football 2024 mid round value picks: the tight ends. It’s mock draft season baby!!!
1. Tight End Value Rounds 6-8: Jake Ferguson
The Dallas Cowboys love to air it out. Last season quarterback Dak Prescott threw for over 4,500 passing yards. Dak Prescott also loves his tight ends and has made names out of nobodies like Dalton Shultz, and now Jake Ferguson. Ferguson took over as the lead tight end last season and put up some fantastic numbers in NFL fantasy and ending as the 9th ranked TE during his sophomore season and Dak’s third favorite option.
Now without Tony Pollard in the mix and WR Gallup, Ferguson has a chance to take on an increased role. Last season he put up 5 touchdowns and 761 receiving yards. Tight ends often take a few years to fully develop in the NFL. This season Ferguson could be hitting his stride, with a breakout season that places him among the top fantasy tight ends. His blend of size, athleticism, and football IQ could make him a go-to option in his offense. He will also have developed more chemistry with Dak.
Opportunity is a huge factor in selecting tight ends who can be productive in fantasy, and that is exactly what Ferguson has going for him. His 5 touchdowns should be easy for his to eclipse, especially with the lack of a running game in Dallas. Ferguson has a chance to be the big red zone target Dak will need to keep them in games.
Jake Ferguson o5.5 touchdowns +112 on BetOnline:
At plus money this is an easy bet for me to love. Ferguson had 5 touchdowns through 17 games last season. But that was only his 2nd season in the league, and he only had one touchdown through the first 7 weeks of the season. His chemistry continued to grow with Dak and that is something that should continue to improve. Now without a true lead running back, Ferguson could be the top option in the redzone.

2. NFL Fantasy Rounds 6-8 Tight Ends: David Njoku
The Cleveland Browns have several question marks going into this season. How will quaterback Watson perform in his second season with the team? Will top running back Nick Chubb come back healthy and how many games will he play? But one question they may have finally answered is if David Njoku can be a receiving threat at the tight end position.
Njoku has the potential to become a focal point in his team’s passing attack, especially if there are injuries. As one of the primary weapons, his target share could increase, leading to more receptions, yards, and scoring opportunities then he has ever seen before. He is coming off a season best of 6 touchdowns and 882 receiving yards, four of those TD’s came in the last four weeks of the season.
While the Browns added receiving threat Jerry Jeudy, the absence of RB Nick Chubb could mean that Njoku finds buckets of targets in the end zone. Njoku’s size, athleticism, and leaping ability make him a prime target in the red zone, and the long Chubb misses time, the more Njoku should be able to use his size to be the primary end zone target.
He should also find more time in the middle of the field and for short passes. Amari Cooper and Jeudy will be able to spread the field much more than before. This means that the Browns could rely on Njoku for mid field plays, meaning he could easily top his 81 receptions from last season. This is a player who is trending up, but can still be had in round 8 of NFL Fantasy drafts.
David Njoku o4.5 receiving touchdowns for -126 on BetOnline:
Coming off a 6 touchdown season and the team being without bruising running back Nick Chubb means Njoku should see plenty of targets in the redzone. This is one of my five favorite future bets from these articles. Njoku had four touchdowns in the two previous seasons, where he was still finding his footing in the NFL.
