Packers vs. Seahawks Analysis & Breakdown
It’s Sunday Night Football and we’ve got a great matchup in front of us. The Packers (9-4) travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks (8-5) on prime time. Geno Smith has lead the Seahawks to 4-straight wins, the lead in the NFC West and could potentially be leading them to the post-season.
His numbers won’t jump off the page and they may not be the flashiest, but Geno Smith has won 8 of their 13 games this year and he’s got the entire city of Seattle believing in this team. Over the last 3 weeks, the Seahawks have outscored their opponents 72-45, they swept the Arizona Cardinals and they scored 8 total touchdowns.
This week, Seattle faces a Green Bay defense that ranks 9th in points allowed, 22nd in pass yards allowed and 23rd in opposing red zone efficiency. The Seahawks defense ranks 11th in points allowed, 10th in pass yards allowed but it’s on the ground where they run into trouble; ranked 21st in opponent rushing yards.
Green Bay ranks 5th in total rushing yards this year, 7th in yards per carry and 6th in rushing attempts per game. Seattle ranks 25th in opponent yards per carry and 26th in rush yards allowed to opposing RBs.
Tucker Kraft Anytime Touchdown (+270)
Tucker Kraft, Mr. Set it and Forget it. The Packers have been great this year at putting up points, they rank 7th in PPG, they average 3.1 touchdowns per game (8th) and over their last 3 games it’s jumped up to 4 touchdowns per game.
Since losing his first two starts of the year, Love has gone 7-2, thrown 15 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. Love’s now gone 3 straight weeks without throwing an interception, instead throwing for 643 yards, 5 touchdowns and completing 65% of his passes.
The Seahawks have allowed 7 of the L10 starting QBs they’ve faced to pass for 2+ touchdowns and when Love passes for 2 or more touchdowns, usually Kraft gets at least one. Love’s recorded 2+ passing touchdowns in 7 of his 11 games this year, Kraft has a touchdown in 4 of these games AND caught Love’s lone TD pass last week.
He leads the Packers in red zone targets and he’s seen 12 targets over his L2 games. The Seahawks rank 28th in targets to the TE position and 23rd in receiving yards against. Over their L10 games, the Seahawks have allowed 4+ catches to 8 of the 10 starting TEs, 50+ yards to 6 of the 10 but none of these TEs were guys who score.
Kraft is the opposite, he leads the team in red zone targets and Jordan Love is always looking for his big bodied TE when they get close to the endzone. Kraft’s got 4 touchdowns in 6 road games this year and I think he makes it 5 tonight.

Packers -2.5 (-120)
The NFC North has become a gauntlet. The Packers have 4 losses this year, with 3 of the 4 coming to divisional opponents. The combined record of the 4 teams that beat the Packers, 46-6. The Packers have been great this year and if that surprises you, you must not be watching these games.
Green Bay’s coming into this one angry after losing on a last second field goal to the Lions. The referees were terrible but despite that, the Packers still believe they should’ve walked away with the win. Tonight they get a chance to rectify last week and get back in the win column.
The Seahawks have won 4 in a row but the quality of opponent is what I bring into question. The Sehawks beat the Cardinals twice, the Niners and the lowly Jets last week. Now they get a top-10 offense, a top-5 QB and Matt LaFleur calling the plays.
It’s Pack Szn, put on that cheesehead.
