See Picks & Statistics For The GameIt’s officially Week 8 in the NFL and we’re kicking it off with a huge coaching matchup. Sean McVay and Los Angeles Rams are hosting Kevin O’Connell and the Minnesota Vikings. O’Connell was the Rams’ offensive co-ordinator when they won Super Bowl LVI.
This is the first time the two head coaches will face off and it’s just the 2nd time these two teams have faced off since 2018. Both teams are coming off short weeks, now playing in Primetime on Thursday Night.
Short week, two coaches that know each other really well, and two offenses that love making big plays. We should be in for a good Thursday Night.

Vikings @ Rams Analysis & Breakdown
Last week we finally saw theRams get their second win of the season and it was quite the struggle. The Rams were 2/10 on third down, recorded just 259 total yards, and Matt Stafford was held without a touchdown pass for the third time in six games.
LA’s been without their top 3 receivers for 5 of the 6 games they’ve played this year. Puka Nacua went down early in Week 1, Kupp’s been out since Week 2 and Tyler Higbee has yet to play a snap this season. When you look at the injuries, it’s no wonder Stafford and this entire Rams team has struggled, especially in crunch time.
The Vikings enter this Thursday Night game coming off their first loss of the season. Minnestoa and Detroit battled it out last week, scoring a combined 60 points and 6 total touchdowns. It was magic, but unfortunately the Vikings would lose by a field goal in the last minute of the game by the Lions.
Darnold’s been really good this year, he’s thrown 12 touchdowns in just 6 games, but he’s also got 5 interceptions and 5 fumbles on the year. He’s had a hard time taking care of the ball this year and it’s been the the only issue with this high powered Minnesota offense.

The Minnesota Vikings have had their own share of injuries this year, their starting wideout Jordan Addison has missed 2 of the teams 6 games so far. He’s finally back in the lineup and he’s explosive as ever.
Addison has recorded a reception of 25+ yards in 3 of the 4 games he’s played in this year, now clearing this line in 3 straight games. Last week, in Addison’s return, he saw just 4 targets, caught 3 of them for 68 yards, including one catch for 51 yards.
Despite just 4 targets, he saw 33.64% of the air yards for Minnesota, leading the team and he finished with an aDOT (average depth of target) of 18.5 yards. The Vikings receiving core is full of speedsters that can blow the top off any defense, but with all eyes on Justin Jefferson, don’t be surprised when Addison get’s loose for a big one.
Addison played his college ball just down the street from SoFi Stadium, he’s familiar with Los Angeles and I wouldn’t be surprised if he had some friends in attendance at this one. He’s scored just one touchdown this year, but I love him to get his 2nd tonight.

Matthew Stafford o22.5 Completions (-130) via BetOnline – Get a $500 WELCOME BONUS
No one is more excited about the return of Cooper Kupp than Matthew Stafford. The lack of receivers has been a huge issue for the Rams this year and it’s directly lead to Stafford’s struggles this year. Stafford’s averaging 22 completions per game but he’s hit this line in just 2 of his 6 starts.
He’s averaging 33 pass attempts per game but like I said, his top target over the last few weeks has been Tutu Atwell and backup tight end, Cody Parkinson. Stafford’s had a bunch of young undrafted receivers, or journeymen on their third or fourth teams; now he gets his #1 guy back and he’s ready.
In two games with Kupp this year, Stafford finished with 34 completions in Week 1 and 19 in Week 2; Kupp was hurt in their second game, playing just 50% of the offensive snaps.
The Vikings rank 3rd last in pass yards allowed, and rank last in completions allowed per game (26.8). It’s no surprise with the way the Vikings have been beating teams, but they’ve also given up 10 passing touchdowns.
Minnesota ranks 1st in blitzes, 3rd in sacks and 1st in interceptions. They blitz a lot and they blitz well; the Vikings have 3 players with 5 sacks each and the defense is averaging 4 sacks per contest.
Stafford’s going to need to get rid of the ball and get ride of it fast. With Kupp back in the lineup look for the Rams to try to get the ball out quickly via screen passes, quick slants and a good amount of dump offs.
