It’s a beautiful fall Saturday and what better way to spend it than by watching hockey ALL DAMN DAY. There are 15 NHL games to choose from today, so let the fine folks at Betting News help dig up some of the best bets and NHL player props to get you extra coin for the weekend.
Before we break down these bets, make sure to get familiar with all of todays games by going to the Betting News NHL picks page!
NHL Player Props: Jamie Benn point (-110) on BETUS
Jamie Benn is from Victoria British Columbia. He grew up a huge Canucks fan, and now as a member of the Dallas Stars he gets to rack up points against his childhood team for a living. Benn has 16 goals and 18 points against the Canucks in 38 games against them.
Last season Benn had 4 points in 3 games against Vancouver. Benn has been off to a great start this season. He has 9 points already and is currently on a 3 game point streak.
Now Vancouver is a tough target. They allow the 4th least amounts of goals against and have a strong penalty kill. Dallas has the 12th most goals per game and the 9th most on the road. Vancouver are scoring the 5th most at home. This means there is a good chance this is a shootout and Benn needs to be involved.
Benn’s goal is +250 and his linemate Wyatt Johnston point is +122 on Bovada. Both are NHL player props worth a sprinkle to compliment this Jamie Benn point prop.
Mats Zuccarello o2.5 SOG (+117) on BETUS
This is another player prop that has some great history. Mats Zuccarello was a long time New York Ranger, and he tends to show up when he plays against them. In his two games against the Rangers last season he had 4 and 5 shots on goal.
In the six games he has played against his former team he has three goals and two assists. This is slightly surprising for a player who is known for his playmaking. Perhaps that’s why he averages 6 shot attempts per game when he played the Rangers last season.
Zuccarello has been a decent SOG option this season. He has hit in half of his games and is averaging 5.4 attempts per game. He is better on the road for shots than he is at home, but at plus money this is a SOG prop that holds value.
Unfortunately the Rangers are not the best team to target for SOG. However, the Wild have dropped four games in a row and should come out fired up tonight. The Rangers are also projected to start Johnathan Quick, so the Wild can capitalize by throwing pucks on net.
Zuccarello’s SOG is one of the best valued NHL player props of the night because of all this context. His goal is +225 on Bovada and worth a sprinkle as well.
Erik Karlsson assist (-115) on Bovada
Yet another NHL prop that has historical context! Erik Karlsson was traded from the San Jose Sharks to the Pittsburgh Penguins this offseason. While the former 101 point producer has started slow, tonight is the first time he faces his former team.
Karlsson had a whooping 76 assists last season. He has started slow on his new team with only 4 assists in 9 games. Which is the only reason why this player prop is valued the way it is.
The San Jose Sharks are allowing the most goals against in the league (5 goals against per game). They are coming off a 1-10 loss against the Canucks and potentially could be one of the worst teams of all time.
The Sharks also sport the 4th worst penalty kill. Erik Karlsson’s power play point can be had for +165. Getting Erik Karlsson’s assist at near even money, against his former team who just happen to be allowing the most goals against per game is clearly one of the best NHL player props you can bet on tonight.
