There are plenty of NHL games to bet on today, so let the Betting News crew help you dig up the best NHL player props from coast to coast. It’s been over two and a half weeks since the first puck drop of this NHL season and now there is more data to utilize to find the best props to place bets on. Let’s break down three props that really stand out.
NHL Player Prop: Kyle Connor o3.5 SOG (-130) on Bovada
Kyle Connor has been slightly up and down with his shot on goal prop this season, but overall has hit 57% of the time. Connor is also avg 7..7 shot attempts a game. He is the Winnipeg Jets top goalscorer and shooting threat. This prop looks good on the surface level and even better when you factor in his opponent.
Tonight Connor gets the Montreal Canadians who are allowing the 3rd most SOG to opponents. The Canadians also have not been disciplined, as they are allowing the 2nd most power play opportunities to their opposition. This props is one to have circled for these factors alone.
This bet becomes one of the best NHL player prop when you look at Connor’s history against the Canadians. Last season he had 6 and 7 SOG against them. He also has 10 goals in 19 games against Montreal. You gotta shoot to score. Sprinkling Connor’s goal for +118 on Bovada has some value tonight.
Matthew Tkachuk’s NHL Player Prop
Matthew Tkachuk needs to get the monkey off his back, badly. In the last two seasons he has had 40+ goals. However, Tkachuk is still scoreless through six games. Yes you read that right, Tkachuk doesn’t have a goal.
This is exactly why this NHL player prop is one to lean on. Matty exploded with a 16 shot attempt performance last game, getting 7 SOG. He clearly wants to get his first and tonight he gets a great opportunity to get his first goal.
Tonight he plays against the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken have not been the same stingy team they were last season. They currently allow the 9th most goals against in the league. The also are middle of the pack on the penalty kill.
Tkachuk was coming off a big offseason injury and has taken several games to truly warm up. Both Tkachuk’s o3.5 SOG (-105) and his goal (+100) are bets that hold a lot of value on Bovada.
Matthew Barzal o2.5 SOG (-130) on Bovada
Matthew Barzal is not a name you often associate with SOG props. However, this season he has changed up his game and has been a threat both with playmaking and putting pucks on net.
He has had a very surprising uptick in his SOG volume this season. He has already hit in 5 of 6 games and is averaging 5.5 shot attempts per game. In three games he has had 4+ SOG and is finding chemistry with his linemate Bo Horvat.
Barzal has a fantastic opponent tonight in the Columbus Blue Jackets. They are allowing the 9th most shots against per game. They also allow the 8th most power play minutes to their opponents.
Barzal only has one goal this season despite his SOG volume. Luckily he loves playing Columbus and this could be the perfect opportunity to get his second. In his last nine games Bazal has six goals against the Blue Jackets.
Both Barzal’s SOG and goal look like some of the best NHL player prop tonight. You can sprinkle his goal for +230 on Bovada.
