Maple Leafs vs Devils NHL Predictions & Picks (12/10)
The Maple Leafs sure could use a win Tuesday as they look to avoid three straight losses for the first time since the end of October.
Craig Berube’s team hasn’t been in action since Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. It was the Maple Leafs’ second loss in as many nights as they were outscored 8-3 on aggregate in the back-to-back defeats.
Meanwhile, the Devils head into Tuesday’s Eastern Conference clash following Sunday’s 4-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. New Jersey hasn’t lost multiple games in a row since late Oct. 27, though, going 5-0 SU with a plus-2.6 average goal margin after their last five losses.
It is worth noting, though, that the Devils are 1-3 SU in their last four home games. Conversely, the Maple Leafs emerged victorious in three of their four previous road outings.
The Maple Leafs have done a good job at finding success away from Scotiabank Arena lately.
These teams have already met once this season, previously colliding at Prudential Center on Oct. 10. The Maple Leafs picked up a 4-2 win over the Devils that night as Dennis Hildeby turned aside 21-of-23 shots while four different Toronto players scored.
While the victory was impressive on its own, it also marked the Maple Leafs’ eighth consecutive victory at Prudential Center. Toronto hasn’t lost in Newark since April 5, 2018, and has picked up five of its last eight road wins against New Jersey by multiple goals.
The Maple Leafs will likely turn to Anthony Stolarz as they attempt to extend that road success. The veteran netminder has been extremely consistent across his last eight appearances, backstopping his way to a 2.01 goals-against average and .931 save percentage with a shutout during that stretch.
Stolarz, additionally, owns a .926 SV% and 2.38 GAA in six career meetings with New Jersey.
The Devils have already confirmed that Jacob Markstrom will be making his 21st start of the season tonight. Although the Swedish goaltender owns a respectable 2.40 GAA and .907 SV% in his last 10 outings, it’s worth noting that he’s last nine of his 16 previous matchups against the Maple Leafs.
G Jacob Markstrom has been a reliable presence between the pipes for the Devils this season.
Even though they’re in enemy territory, I’m predicting a Maple Leafs win. At the end of the day, it’s been over six years since the Maple Leafs last lost at Prudential Center and I don’t see that changing, especially since they already beat the Devils on the road this season. Stolarz has also been playing well lately and tends to step up against the Devils, whereas Markstrom usually has no luck against the Leafs.
With that in mind, I’m more than comfortable taking the Maple Leafs as moneyline underdogs tonight.

Best Maple Leafs vs Devils NHL Player Prop (12/10)
When it comes to Tuesday’s best Maple Leafs vs. Devils player prop bet, I recommend adding Auston Matthews anytime goal (+108 on Bovada) to your slip.
Since returning from his upper-body injury, Matthews has looked like his old self. The two-time NHL All-Star has eight points in his last six games, which includes scoring three goals in the last four outings. Even though the Devils are one of the league’s better defensive teams, there’s a good reason to believe that his recent offensive success will continue.
Matthews loves facing the Devils, proven by the fact that he’s scored 13 goals in his last 11 meetings with them. Not only does that stretch include two hat tricks, but it also features goals in four of the last five collisions.
Scoring won’t be easy, but Matthews is in a good spot to find the back of the net again.
Best Maple Leafs vs. Devils Player Prop Bet: Auston Matthews Anytime Goal (+108)
