NHL Best Bets 1/23/2025

Time to put on our readers and find the best discounts on NHL player props in the slate. So let’s snip some value up and down the NHL slate and using those “coupons” to get great deals. Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. 1. Chandler Stephenson Point +110 on BetOnline:

Sometimes the sportsbooks don’t catch onto NHL players that are on heaters. This means we get a major discount on their props if they had cold streaks. Case in point, he second line center, Chandler Stephenson, of the Seattle Kraken. Over the last 10 games Stephenson has a point in 8 games and 10 total points. And while he only has a point in 45% of games this season, he also has a point in 60% of the last 20 games played.

So we get a nice discount due to his cold start to the season. But when you factor in his opponent you realize just how good a deal we are getting on Stephenson’s point today. He gets his first team tonight, the Washington Capitals. In his six games against his former team he has four points. Between his recent hot streak and this extra motivation, Stephenson is in an excellent spot for a plus money NHL best bet.

The Kraken will get Charlie Lindgren in net for the Capitals tonight. And while he has been a great piece of the Capitals tandem, he is the weaker of the two goalies. Lindgren has a 2.65 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. This means Stephenson should be able to continue to roll, especially against his former team.

2. Connor Garland o2.5 SOG +180 on BetOnline:

The boo birds will be out tonight. Vancouver Canucks forward Connor Garland got in a scuffle two games ago against NHL superstar Connor McDavid which resulted in a three game suspension for McDavid. And Garland is the type of player to soak it in and play bigger when he is hated.

For instance, Garland is very spiteful against his former team the Arizona Coyotes. He has racked up points and SOGs (shots on goal) against them whenever he faces them. And he tends to play up in rivalry matchups, just like the Oilers vs Canucks. So while he has only hit his 2.5 SOG prop in 37% of games this season I’m trusting him tonight and taking this huge amount of value on the prop.

At nearly 2x your bet, this is a tasty looking prop. He has hit his 2.5 SOG prop in 9 of his last 19 games against the Oilers, including their last match. While he has averaged 3 shot attempts per game over his last 10 games, he steps his play up against Edmonton averaging 4.7 shot attempts across 19 games. The Oilers are a tough team on shots, but with all eyes on Garland this big value prop looks like an NHL best bet.

3. Alex Pietrangelo Point +155 on BetOnline:

Another revenge angle tonight and one that looks extra delicious. Pietrangelo only has a point in 4 of the last 10 games played. This is why his point prop is nearly 1.5x. And while he is better at home, tonight he gets a team and arena he is very familiar with. Drafted by the St. Louis Blues, Piertrangelo has spent most of his career and won his first up with them. Now as a Vegas Golden Knight, he loves playing against them.

He has a point in 7 of the 10 career games he has played against the Blue, with two multi-point games in that span. The Vegas Golden Knights and the Blues just faced off as well. On Tuesday the Blues won in Vegas in a high scoring 5-4 tilt. Pietrangelo recorded an assist and 2 SOGs off 7 shot attempts in that game. The Golden Knights will look to bounce back tonight.

Over the last 10 games the Blues are allowing the 15th most goals against per game in the league. Their penalty kill ranks 21st. The Blues will also be starting Hofer in net tonight. The young goaltender has a 2.74 goals against average in his 15 starts this season. Vegas and their top defenseman Alex Pietrangelo would love to give it back to the Blues tonight, making his point an NHL best bet.
