I sure love Tuesdays. I am a Tuesday guy. And that’s because the NHL always delivers a great slate and today is no different. With 10 games we can find plenty of props that hold value, without feelings overloaded with options. So after slicing and dicing through the games I’ve found three NHL best bets I’ll put my money on. We are now a 23-22 record over the last 15 articles with a positive unit size due to plenty of plus money plays cashing. Let’s keep rolling in 2025 and stack more, and more and more green!
We will be breaking down NHL best bets here at Betting News all season! Each article will look for VALUE, as in straights you can take to build up your bankroll or pieces you can use to beef up your parlays. All bets will be -135 or better odds. And while we will focus on NHL player props, there are times we will take sides and totals. So keep your eyes peeled here as we will drop these throughout the week.
And if you haven’t already be sure to check out some of my favorite futures and awards. So time to lace them up and get ready to ride with Betzky for my favorite NHL best bets for 1/7/2025!
1. Patrick Kane Point -110 on BetOnline:
After only recording two points in a 15 game span, Patrick Kane has been lighting it up. He now has a point in 7 of his last 10 games with 11 total points in those games. Kane is also on a four game point streak where he has put up 7 total points. He’s been a huge help to the Detroit Red Wings lackluster offense, as the entire team has had a spark from a recent coaching change.
Tonight Detroit will host the Ottawa Senators. Much like Detroit, the Senators have been trying to turn the corner on their rebuild. These are two teams with youth and a healthy dose of vets. And as both teams are in similar situations they tend to have very chippy games. Last year the two teams teams battled back and forth, with all four games netting 5+ total goals.
We will lean on Detroit tonight as their offense has had a shot of life since the coaching change. The Red Wings have put up at least four goals in all four games Since McClellan has taken the team over. Kane also happens to have an affinity with playing the Senators with 10 points in the last 6 matches against them. He plays on a line with ex-Senator Alex DeBrincat. All this adds up to Kane point being an NHL best bet, especially at it’s low price.

2. Pavel Dorofeyev Point -120 on BetOnline:
The Las Vegas Knights moved on from top sniper Johnathan Marchessault this offseason. And it seems like they may have already found a new sniper in Pavel Dorofeyev. While his production still isn’t as high as Marchessault’s was, the young forward has fit right at home on the top forward line and top power play unit throughout this season. He’s having a career year with 14 goals and 21 points in 39 games played and the Golden Knights get one of the leakiest teams in the league tonight.
The San Jose Sharks have had some promising games this season, and keys pieces of their rebuild have been making impacts. But they are still allowing the 4th most goals against per game played and allowing the most shots against in the league. While Dorofeyev is currently on the 2nd forward line, this allows him to play with former Shark Tomas Hertl. Hertl should be looking to remind the Sharks how good of a player he was for them, and if he gets on the score sheet Dorofeyev may follow.
Dorofeyev has a point in three of his last 5 games. His minutes in those games have gone up since his stint on the 3rd line. On top of that there’s the off chance that he moves back to the top power play unit if Olofsson cannot play again. Regardless of where Dorofeyev plays, this point prop looks extra tasty tonight and is fairly valued due to both Dorofeyev and Hertl’s recent performance. Hopefully both can prove this is an NHL best bet by getting on the scoresheet tonight.

3. Steven Stamkos Point -105 on BetOnline:
What am I missing here? Steven Stamkos plays on the top line and top power play. Check. he has a point in 8 of his last 10 games. Check. And he is great vs his opponent the Winnipeg Jets, with a point in 6 of his last 8 games against them. Triple check. So why is his point still nearly even money?
Well the Winnipeg Jets are considered one of the best defensive teams in the league. They have allowed the 3rd least amount of goals against per game in the league this season. But as of late, they have been allowing more goals. Their defensive depth players have all been injured, forcing the team to start Heinola and Coghlan night in and night out. They have also lost three straight, with their last win as a shutout against the Predators.
Nashville has been the opposite, they are getting production from their top six and have won three straight. You know they would love to get revenge on Winnipeg tonight. And with a red hot power play that is 8th best over the last 10 games, they can exploit a poor Jets penalty Kill (5th worst in that span). So let’s take Stamkos point at a discount. You could even stack him with Forsberg for +135 as another option for this NHL best bet.
