See Picks & Statistics For The GameA Metro Division matchup between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders. These 2 teams have a lot of history against each other, so we’re always in for a good game. They played each other last week and the Flyers won the game 5-3.
The Islanders are having another disappointing season. They’re 19-20-7 this season and in last place in the Metro. The Isles are currently on a 2-game winning streak and are 5-5-0 in their last 10 games. You’d think they play well at home in their new barn, but not so much with a 9-11-2 record.
New York still has their troubles on offense. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored per game. One of their biggest problems for years has been their terrible power play. The Isles are dead last in the league for power play conversion.
Defensively they have played a little better. New York ranks 14th for goals allowed and 13th for shots on goal allowed per game. Like their offensive special teams, this team is dead last in penalty kill. They don’t commit many penalties per game, but they cannot defend when they do.
Goalie Ilya Sorokin is due to get the start in net. He is 14-14-4 this season with a 2.81 GAA and a .902 save percentage. Sorokin is 6-3-1 in his last 10 games vs the Flyers with a 1.59 GAA and a .946 save percentage with 3 shut outs.
Philly plays 2nd game of a back-to-back in New York
The Flyers are 22-20-6 this year and are 6th in the Metro Division. They’re 5-3-2 in their last 10 game and in divisional matchups, they’re 5-5-1. Philly is also 11-11-1 on the road, so split right down the middle like their divisional games.
Philly started the season off good but have fallen off. They rank 15th in goals scored and 22nd in shots on goal per game. Their power play ranks 5th worst in the league as well. This offense has great players like Konecny and Tippet but can’t seem to be consistent.
Their defense isn’t the greatest either. Philly allowed 3.31 goals per game, which is 5th worst in the league. They do defend the puck well and only allow 26-4 shots on goal per game. On the penalty kill, they rank middle of the pack with 77.9 kill rate.
Goalie Ivan Fedotov is expected in net. He is 4-5-3 this season with a 3.26 GAA and a .879 save percentage. Fedotov did not get the start vs the Isles last week, so he will be a new face for them. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I think this is a good spot for the Flyers after playing the Rangers. They will have a much slower team in front of them to take advantage of. It should be a good bounce back spot for them.
Even though they’re facing just as good of goalie in Sorokin, the Flyers will find their chances and take advantage. Coming off such a poor performance, a game against the Islanders gives them a chance to get the offense clicking again.
I lean this game going over. Sorokin has been playing a lot with the injury to Varlamov and Fedotov just isn’t that good. The Flyers are also allowing over 3 goals per game, which is half was there by itself.
For a prop, I’m riding with Bo Horvat for 3 or more shots on goal. It should be valued around -140, so we’re going to pay the juice man. Another juiced play that you can pair with this is Travis Konecny to record 1 point. He has 5 points in his last 4 games, just getting one last night.
