What a Tuesday! Every NHL team plays tonight in the debut of the Frozen Frenzy on ESPN. So let the fine folks at Betting News dig up some absolute gems of NHL player props so you can sit back, relax and watch all the action.
NHL Player Prop: William Nylander o3.5 SOG (-120) on Bovada
William Nylander is on a contract year. Players tend to get motivated when they are about to get paid. And Nylander has proven this case by putting pucks on net.
He has hit in three of his five games played this season. When he hits his SOG line he often soars past it, with 5,6,6 SOG in those games. But the most telling aspect of his new approach of racking up points is his shot attempts. He is averaging 8 shot attempts per game. If he misses half of his shots he will still hit his line.
This NHL player prop becomes even tastier when you look at his opponent. The Washington Capitals are allowing some of the most SOG in the league (24th). To make this even more enticing they are allowing the 2nd most SOG to right wingers, the position Nylander plays.
Nylander just scored against the Lightning, so this prop rides the hot stick as well. His goal is +130 on Bovada another NHL player prop that is worth a sprinkle.
Jack Hughes o1.5 points (+110) on Bovada
Jack Hughes has turned the corner. He is already coming off a phenomenal season, but the pace at which he is scoring and producing is making him a strong candidate for the Hart Trophy (MVP). In fact with McDavid out for several weeks this is a nice NHL futures bet.
But today the focus is his points. In four games this season he has multi-point games in three of them. He has amassed 10 points in those games, a 75% hit rate. He also has a great opponent tonight.
The Montreal Canadians are coming off a big win against the Buffalo Sabres last night and had to travel back home. They should be tired and on top of that are middle of the pack in goals against.
Where Hughes can shine is the powerplay, as seven of his points have come from it. The Canadians give up the 3rd most penalty minutes per game, so Jack should have ample time to make his magic. This is an NHL player prop that has a ton of value at plus money.
Just like Nylander, his goal is also worth a sprinkle at -103 on Bovada. Hughes shockingly has only scored in two games, both times scoring twice. Last season he had a multi-goal game in Montreal.
Johnathan Marchessault o3.5 SOG (+114) on Bovada
The reining Stanley Cup MVP is heating up. After a slow start he has hit his SOG line twice. He is averaging 6 shot attempts per game over the course of the season, which pads any missed shots.
Tonight he plays the Flyers who he has had a great history against. Last season he had 5 and 4 SOG vs Philly, netting a goal in both games. In fact in his last 8 games against the Flyers he has 4+ SOG in 6 games (75%).
Philadelphia are allowing the 7th most penalty minutes per game. This means Marchessault should have ample time and space on the powerplay to rip pucks on net.
Just like the other NHL player props highlighted here, you can sprinkle Marchessault’s goal for +135 on Bovada.
