See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe’re back on the ice and we’re headed out west. The Edmonton Oilers head to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Wild. This is the 3rd time these 2 are playing this season and Edmonton won the last game 7-1. Let’s get some stats and then get into the Oilers vs Wild picks.
Minnesota is 27-13-4 this season and are 2nd in the Central Division. They come into this game off a 4-1 loss to the Knights on Sunday night. The Wild are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and are 11-9-1 at home this season.
They don’t put up the best stats, but the Wild find ways to win. Minnesota ranks 16th in goals scored and 18th in shots on goal per game. Their shooting percentage falls in the same range, ranking 15th in the league. Kirill Kaprisov and Matt Boldy are doing what it takes to get the wins.
On defense, they have great goaltending. Only allowing 2.73 goals per game, these goaltenders have been holding it down, facing around 30 shots per game. That ranks 27th in the league, which is rough.
Goalie Filip Gustavsson is expected to be in net tonight. He has a 18-8-3 record with a 2.50 GAA and a .917 save percentage. He and Marc-Andre Fleury have been playing fantastic for the Wild this season.
Edmonton looks to win 3 in a row tonight in Minnesota
It’s been a heck of a season for the Oilers and it’s only half over! They’re 27-13-3 so far and are 2nd in the Pacific Division. The Oilers come into this game on a 2-game winning streak.
Edmonton is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games and 12-6-2 on the road. They’re playing great and comfortable on the road, so could equal a problem for the Wild. This team, as we all know, has a high-powered offense.
They rank 8th for goals scored and 1st for shot on goal per game. The Oilers have the 8th best power play in the league and are known for their speed. I mean, the fastest player in the league does play on their team (lol).
Defensively, they run a tight ship. Ranking 7th in goals allowed and 4th in shots on goal allowed per game, this team clamps you down. They don’t have the best penalty kill, so that is one way to get to them, but they play smart hockey, so good luck.
Goalie Stuart Skinner is expected in net. He’s 17-9-3 this season with a 2.68 GAA and a .902 save percentage. It’ll be the 1st time he faces the Wild this year. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Even though their numbers are the best on paper, the Wild have a good offense. Guys like Kaprisov and Boldy aren’t just your everyday players – they’re good. This team can score goals and Skinner can be leaky at times.
I’m leaning the over here because I think the offenses of both teams will out do the defenses. The Oilers will most definitely score 3+ goals tonight, especially after having a 1 goal performance the other night.
I like for Gustavsson to get over his saves line. It should be set around 28 and the Oilers should put up a minimum of 30 shots. I also like Leon Draisaitl to record 2+ points and 3+ points. He had 4 points in their last match up in November.
We should see a high scoring, fast-paced game. I’m not in love with any shot on goal props as they have been extremely hard this season. We’ll stick to the saves and points for now.
