See Picks & Statistics For The GameWe have a battle between 2 Atlantic Division teams tonight. The Buffalo Sabres will take on the Detroit Red Wings at the Little Caesar’s Arena. This will be the 2nd time these 2 play each other. Last week, the Sabres won by a score of 5-3.
Buffalo is coming off their 2nd loss in a row after losing last night to the New York Islanders. They played from behind for most of the game and didn’t have much control. Goalie Devon Levi faced 40 shots and had 36 saves in the loss.
The Sabres did put up plenty of offense themselves. They put up 35 shots but were only able to manage 3 goals scored. The addition of Jason Zucker is showing dividends already. He finished the night with a goal and an assist.
Goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is expected in net tonight. He is 3-3-1 this season with a 3.31 GAA and a .890 save percentage. Levi will get rest after playing in last night’s game.
Detroit will look to get back in the win column tonight
The Red Wing’s returned mainly the same team as last year. They did add Vladimir Tarasenko if the offseason, but he has been out with an illness. Detroit also picked up goalie Cam Talbot, who has a great season last year.
Lucas Raymond has emerged as a star so far this season. He has 1 goal and 9 helpers to start while averaging about 18 minutes of ice time per game. Forward Alex DeBrincat is next on the team in points with 8. He and Dylan Larkin lead the team in scoring with 5 goals each.
This team is not very strong defensively. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals allowed and shots on goal per game. Detroit ranks almost dead last in penalty kill which can really hurt them in the long run.
Goalie Cam Talbot has been confirmed for tonight. He is 2-1-1 so far this year with a 3.16 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Talbot will look to bring back shades of last year where he was 27-20-6 but had a 2.50 GAA.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

I like the Sabres in this game after losing 2 games. The Islanders didn’t man handle them, but they did out play them. Playing the Red Wings just a week ago shows me they can come in and get a much-needed win.
Buffalo will face a different goaltender this game, but it shouldn’t affect them. The Sabres will need to score at least 3 goals to win this game though. Sportsbooks have the line set at 3.5 for +134 for Buffalo’s team total. I like this play at plus money after they just put up 5 on them.
Tage Thompson is going to need to lead this team offensively. He leads the team with 6 goals and 7 assists, so he’s been getting involved from all over. We’ll need to see that out of him tonight. I like for him to get his 4+ shots on goal at +102. He has missed his shots in his last 2 games and had a great game vs the Red Wings last week.
