Expansion of the sports betting industry is proving the mother of invention, as new ideas surface every week.
The latest, a Louisiana TV station’s partnership with VSiN, will afford viewers the opportunity to bring sports wagering programming directly to their living rooms.
VSiN, Baton Rouge-based WBRZ join forces for sports betting content
Las Vegas-based VSiN, the Sports Betting Network and Manship Media’s ABC affiliate WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge have an agreement in place that delivers “credible” sports betting knowledge.
VSiN, now operating as a subsidiary of DraftKings, continues to broaden its reach with this first-time foray into over-the-air broadcasting.
This week, VSiN’s content began airing on the family-owned station’s WBRZ+ subchannel Monday through Friday at 10-11 a.m. CT and 8-9 p.m. as well as Saturdays at 3-6 p.m.
Among the offerings from VSiN are “A Numbers Game,” hosted by Gill Alexander, and “Prime Time Action,” hosted by Alexander, (LSU grad) Matt Brown and Danielle Alvari.
VSiN’s longtime broadcasting (and sports-betting) icon Brent Musburger and former National Football League executive Michael Lombardi also offer their tips and analysis.
“We’re thrilled to bring VSiN’s sports betting content to sports fans and soon-to-be wagering enthusiasts across the Baton Rouge Market,” said Noah Kozinko, WBRZ director of marketing, in a VSiN release.
“We knew we wanted to get ahead of the legislative process and start to educate our audience on sports betting before it kicks off here in Louisiana. We wanted to find the best in the business to help introduce folks to sports betting and there just wasn’t anyone better than VSiN to do that.”
The betting content offers a preview of each day’s major wagering opportunities, including analysis on everything from the NFL to the Southeastern Conference – where Baton Rouge sports fans are among the more rabid in the country.
“You’d be hard pressed to find fans more passionate than folks in SEC country and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our unique sports betting content to Baton Rouge,” said Brian Musburger, founder and CEO of VSiN.
“As we continue to expand our distribution footprint across the U.S., we’re thrilled to be able to collaborate with innovative providers like WBRZ, who are ahead of the curve in educating their audience, having recognized the growth in this type of content.”
Where can interested Bayou State bettors find VSiN’s content?
For fans in the Baton Rouge area, WBRZ Plus is available with an antenna on channel 2.2, Cox channel 1011, Eatel channel 2 and streaming on WBRZ.com and connected TV devices.
The timing is likely to find a sweet spot as Louisiana prepares for legalized betting to take effect as early as the upcoming NFL season.
The New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association, the NFL’s New Orleans Saints and the immensely popular LSU Tigers sports teams are now on the radar in the Bayou State.
The state’s legislature has pledged full support of several proposals awaiting the governor’s signature on the subjects of mobile and retail betting.
